‘The Wonder Years’ Star Says Finding Faith Has Helped Her Be A Better Parent

“The Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar said finding faith has helped make her a better and more confident parent to her son.

Speaking to Fox News, the 49-year-old actress said she used to spend time “worrying and stressing” about “how to make decisions” and “what to do next” during the hard times, but not after she found God 2 ½ years ago.

“Faith guides everything, including parenting,” McKellar said. “For me, my faith journey has led me to the most comforting place of knowing that I can consult with God at any time.”

“This is so comforting to me to have this other guiding force in my life,” she added of reading the Bible. “When Bible scripture is mentioned in church, I know what it is now.”

“Having that relationship, having that faith, means that when trials and tribulations happen, because they still happen … knowing it’s in God’s hands, means that even when things happen that I don’t think I want to have happen, I can say ‘well let me be curious about this and wonder what the big plan is that I can’t see.’”

“It’s incredible what that perspective shift does for you,” McKellar continued, as she breathed a deep sigh of relief. “It’s been an amazing journey … since I found the Lord.”

Earlier this year, the “Crown For Christmas” star opened up about the transformation she’s seen in her life after finding faith — following an invitation to attend to church more than two years ago from “Full House” actress Candace Cameron Bure.

During an interview with Fox News about the importance of Easter week, McKellar said, at the time, it “marks two years of becoming a believer” after “Bure brought me into her church on Palm Sunday, and we saw the passion play there at Shepherd Church.”

“It changed my life,” she added. “I don’t know what happened. Some people say the Holy Spirit came to me. All I know is that I knew I became a believer, and it was the most wonderful, transformative moment.”

“I was flooded with this knowingness, and I have such peace from that still after two years, and I’m so grateful for it,” McKellar continued, noting how the Easter season is full of “redemption and rebirth. And I feel that.”

McKellar and her ex-husband composer Mike Verta welcomed a son, Draco, in 2010. In 2013, the couple divorced and a year later she married attorney Scott Sveslosky, People magazine noted.
