Vance Urges CPAC Audience to Persuade Others About Sanctity of Unborn Life

Vice President JD Vance’s speech, on the one-month mark of the second Trump administration, kicked off the annual Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday.

“We’ve got to persuade our fellow citizens that unborn life is worthy of protecting, it is sacred in the eyes of God,” Vance said, “and it should be sacred in the eyes of man, too, and we have to pick up the torch and fight for that every single day.”

The Trump administration has a policy that “babies are good, and we want to make it easier for young moms and young dads to choose life, to start families and to bring new life into the world,” he said.

The vice president cited supporting pregnancy resource centers as a way to help protect unborn life and to serve women.

Vance praised Donald Trump as the most pro-life president in history.

“He finally made it possible for the will of the people to speak on the life issue,” he said. “And that was the Dobbs decision. What that did is it gave the abortion question back to the people. It took it out of the hands of unelected bureaucrats and unelected judges and gave it back to the people.” Dobbs is a reference to the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

Vance referenced his Catholic faith as the reason for his pro-life commitments.

“Whether it’s fighting for the unborn or fighting for peace and security for our citizens, I want us to be the kind of society where my kids can grow up to be virtuous, young people, can be good young Christians, of course, because that’s what I’m trying to raise them to be,” Vance said, “and that’s what our public policy is trying to do, creating the space where moms and dads can raise their children in their faith to become good young people who believe the things that I do.”

“That is what I’m trying to create, is the space for you, of course, to raise your children as you see fit,” he added, “but the space for me to raise my kids to be the kind of young people that I think they ought to be.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
