Why True Christians Must Reject the Cruel, Dehumanizing False Gospel of Transgender Orthodoxy

Transgender advocates say their movement is about compassion and acceptance, but is it not extremely cruel to gaslight children into taking experimental drugs with documented harms but no proof they improve their lives?

Is there anything more disempowering or dehumanizing than saying your natural process of puberty is so drastic a threat to your mental health that nothing short of fundamentally reshaping your body is necessary to prevent you from committing suicide?

I can think of few things as antithetical to Christian love, and, in fact, I can’t help but see transgender orthodoxy as a counterfeit gospel, competing against the faith once delivered to the saints.

Cruel

Activists use the gaslighting term “gender-affirming care” to hide the ugly truth. Doctors are altering the body chemistry of boys and girls to prevent them from undergoing puberty. They’re using the very same drugs that prisons use to chemically castrate sexual offenders and they’re calling it “care.”

These so-called puberty blockers then lead to cross-sex hormones, aiming to make males appear female and vice versa. Documented negative side effects include higher risks of cancer, blood clots, and death.

Then, of course, there’s the surgical removal of sex organs and the attempt to replace them with facsimiles of the organs of the opposite sex.

These interventions leave kids stunted, scarred, and infertile—and to what end?

Even advocates for gender-affirming care have admitted—in applications to receive federal funding for research—that there is no definitive proof that these grotesque interventions have positive outcomes for young patients.

In fact, one of the most popular transgender “success stories” actually illustrates the callousness of this approach. Jazz Jennings, the star of the book and TV shows “I Am Jazz,” went under the knife to “affirm” his female identity. This means Jazz has a hole—a fake female reproductive organ. His body rejects this unnatural hole, however, attempting to fill it in. In one particularly shocking TV episode, Jazz’s mother describes forcing her son to dilate this hole in order to preserve the lie that he is female.

Can there be anything more callous than this graphic exchange?

Dehumanizing

It’s hard to unpack just how evil the arguments for “gender-affirming care” are.

Advocates claim, with a straight face, not only that there are people whose minds are out of step with their bodies, but that these people lack the self-control to prevent themselves from committing suicide if they’re not “affirmed” in this delusion. Perhaps this was originally a cynical ploy to win the argument on experimental “care,” but the rhetoric didn’t go away after most health agencies accepted it.

This is an extremely dehumanizing view of gender-confused people. Not only are these people’s bodies out to get them, but these people also lack basic agency.

In contrast, Christianity preaches that God made us, male and female. He gave us free will, which enabled us to sin but also enables us to love him and our neighbors, when we accept Jesus’ offer of salvation.

Christianity also has a positive view of our physical bodies. Early Christians rightly rejected the heresy of Gnosticism, which taught that salvation lay in freeing human spirits from the dirty matter of our bodies.

Like Gnosticism, transgender orthodoxy teaches that something outside the body—an inner sense of gender—is more fundamental to the person than the body, such that altering the body in pursuit of this identity can be good, even “lifesaving.”

In an eerie preview of transgender orthodoxy, the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas teaches that “every woman who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven,” and puts into the mouth of Jesus, “I will lead her that I will make her male, in order that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males.”

Early Christians were right to reject this “gospel” as contradicting the clear teachings of Jesus, who welcomed women and did not say they needed to “transition” in order to be saved.

The False Transgender Gospel

Fundamentally, transgender orthodoxy preaches a vision in competition with the Christian faith.

The Bible says God made us in his image, male and female (Genesis 1:27), but we sinned and separated ourselves from him.

Transgender orthodoxy says God made mistakes, that males are “truly” female or vice versa, and that rejecting this truth is society’s original sin.

The Bible says God sent his son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our guilt and reconcile us to God.

Transgender orthodoxy says accepting a gender opposite one’s sex is the path to fulfillment and social “acceptance” is the path to redemption.

The gospel is open to everyone, including those who struggle with gender confusion. Yet the gospel does not preach fulfillment in gender identity, but fulfillment in Christ. The ultimate problem with a gender-confused person isn’t a lack of “acceptance,” it’s a separation from God. Returning to God won’t involve “affirming” an identity opposite from the sex God gave him or her—but a fulfillment of his design for that person.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
