At Least 1 Dead, Multiple Injured, And Church Burned After Mass Shooting In Michigan

At least one person has died, and approximately nine people are injured after a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, according to police.
The shooter “drove his vehicle through the front doors of the church” before opening fire, according to Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye. The suspect was later killed in a firefight with police.
The current status of the injured victims is unknown. The church fire was likely started by the shooter, according to Police Chief Renye.

President Donald Trump released a statement on the shooting and fire, saying that he has “been briefed,” and to “pray for the victims and their families.”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a post on X that FBI agents are responding to the shooting “to provide any requested support necessary.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi posted that she is receiving briefings “about what appears to be a horrific shooting and fire at an LDS church in Grand Blanc, Michigan.” She also noted that federal agents with the FBI and ATF are responding.
“Such violence at a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling. Please join me in praying for the victims of this terrible tragedy,” said Bondi.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer responded to news of the shooting on X: “My heart is breaking for the Grand Blanc community. Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable. I am grateful to the first responders who took action quickly. We will continue to monitor this situation and hold the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Grand Blanc close.”
