ICE to Patrol Super Bowl in Response to NFL’s Pick for Halftime Show

Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be patrolling the Super Bowl this year, according to a Trump administration adviser.
“There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you. We will apprehend you,” Corey Lewandowski, a prominent adviser to the Trump administration, explained to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.
“We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So, know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to how it used to be,” Lewandowski added.
Lewandowski’s comments come on the heels of the NFL announcing that rapper Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—known by his stage name, Bad Bunny—as the Super Bowl 60 halftime-show performer on Feb. 8.
The Puerto Rican singer known for being featured with Cardi B on the hit single “I Like It” previously made an appearance as a guest performer for the Super Bowl 54 halftime show headlined by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
Bad Bunny had previously said he had avoided playing in the United States during his current world tour at least in part because of possible Trump administration raids on illegal aliens that could possibly have attended his shows.
“There was the issue of—like, f—–g ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” the singer said in September.

He also publicly derided ICE agents in a June Instagram post as “motherf—ers” and “sons of bitches.” Those comments came the same month that Los Angeles broke out into riots over ICE enforcement of immigration law.
The violence on the streets prompted condemnation from Republicans and at least one Democrat, Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., who wrote on the social media platform X, “My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.”
Lewandowski criticized the NFL for picking someone with views like Bad Bunny’s. “It’s so shameful they’ve decided to pick somebody who seems to hate America so much to represent them at the halftime show,” the longtime Trump adviser said.
“We should be trying to be inclusive, not exclusive. There are plenty of great bands and entertainment people who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them,” he added.
“If there are illegal aliens, I don’t care if it’s a concert for Johnny Smith or Bad Bunny or anybody else. We’re going to do enforcement everywhere. We are going to make Americans safe. That is a directive from the president. If you’re in this country illegally, go home,” Lewandowski said.
As for ICE, the federal law enforcement agency already has been airing ads during NFL broadcasts in so-called “sanctuary cities” across the country in a bid to boost recruitment.
