“The View” host Sunny Hostin appeared to excuse the violent, execution-style murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City, arguing that the United States was “built on violence” and claiming that the violence, at least in this case, was “justified.”
Hostin joined her cohosts on Wednesday’s broadcast of the ABC midday talk show, and while they all agreed that there is room for improvement in the health insurance industry, the others at least were adamant that violence was not the best way to address the problems in the system.
“The vast majority of Americans want the healthcare industry fixed. But I got to tell you, murdering someone is not the way to do it,” Whoopi Goldberg said.
Joy Behar agreed, saying, “Doesn’t justify killing anybody to me anyway. I think it’s a very stupid idea, bad idea…Voting good, murder bad.”
Behar goes on to claim that it's part of the "American idea that only rich people can afford to get sick."

Cohost Sara Haines also roundly condemned not only the alleged shooter, but those who were cheerleading his actions and suggesting that Thompson deserved what had happened.

“Check in with someone…you need to look at yourself,” she said.
Alyssa Farah Griffin rips the shooter and says he didn't provide a solution anywhere in his 2-page manifesto.
She calls out liberals who denounce they system while being part of it and not doing anything. It triggered Behar: "Why go after 2 liberals?!" pic.twitter.com/vyu0Y9fOr0— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) December 11, 2024
It was Hostin who went all in to excuse the alleged shooter’s actions, complaining that she expected no different from a country that was “built on violence.”
“Only about 31% of Americans trust our healthcare system,” Hostin said, adding that the current system is bad for doctors as well as patients.
She then pivoted to push back on people who said that violence was not a reflection of America, adding, “This country was built on violence. We’re a very violent country … And so, I’m not, unfortunately, surprised people are celebrating the use of violence … violence is justified right now.”
Whoopi flaunts her profound ignorance of how health insurance payouts work.
She whines: "If I don't go to the hospital for a whole year, where is my money? Why don't you give me the money back?"

Goldberg concluded the segment with a complaint about how the system works, arguing that if she didn’t use the benefits, she should get her money back from the insurance company.
