When Online Dating Gives You a Wild Story, and Your Friend a Husband!

Dating is hard, and a bit complex in the modern era. There’s a reason so many women love Hallmark movies where the guy sees a girl struggling to carry her groceries to her car and rushes to help her, only to strike up a conversation that ends with an invitation to get dinner later that night. In modern terms, we call this a “meet cute,” and regardless of how cheesy it might be, every single woman secretly, or not so secretly, would love this to be their story. And yet, for most women, this is not how they meet their spouse today.

A study by Date Psychology found that 45% of men between the ages of 18 and 25 have never approached a woman in person to ask her out. There are hundreds of opinions why this might be. But whatever the reason, the reality is more young people, both men and women, are turning to dating applications like Hinge or Bumble to find their spouse, just as Chaney Mullins Gooley and I (“Problematic Women” host Virginia Allen) attempted to do back in 2018. And it turns out, the online dating community is a little smaller than imagined.

On this week’s edition of “Problematic Women,” Chaney and I share our humorous personal story of finding out we dated the same man at just about the same time after both meeting him online. And spoiler alert, he and Chaney have been happily married for several years now. The true story might actually have all the makings of a good Hallmark movie, but we’ll leave that up to you.

Also on today’s show, we discuss the work of Heaven’s Gain Ministries, an organization that provides miscarriage care to women and their families.

Plus, we dig into the news of the week in Washington, from President Donald Trump’s trip to the White House roof to “South Park” making fun of key conservative leaders.

Enjoy the show!

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
