Whoopi Goldberg Leads The Charge As ‘The View’ Hosts Mock Elon Musk’s Son Over His Name

The hosts of ABC’s “The View” took their commentary a few steps lower on Thursday when, during a segment devoted almost entirely to complaining about billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, they took a brief time out to mock his four-year-old son over his unusual name, X Æ A-XII.

The cohosts were responding to a televised briefing from the Oval Office during which Musk laid out some of what he had been uncovering with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project. President Donald Trump sat behind the resolute desk throughout the briefing, and Musk stood at his right shoulder. “Lil X,” as Musk calls his son, was also in the room at the time — a fact that did not escape Goldberg’s attention.

WATCH:

“Yeah, so yesterday Elon Musk took his son X to a press conference —” Goldberg began.

“X?” cohost Joy Behar asked.

Goldberg, shaking her head, said, “I did not name the child.”

Behar asked again, “That’s the kid’s name?”

“And I don’t want to hear any more mess about our names. Okay?” Goldberg — whose real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson — quipped. “Anyhoo, he took little X —”

“And little Instagram,” Behar joked, but cohost Sara Haines pointed out that Musk did not own Instagram.

“He doesn’t own Instagram, he just took Lil X with him,” Goldberg said. “To a press conference in the Oval Office to defend himself against critics who say he should not have the power to gut the federal agency.”

Not everyone took the same approach as Goldberg and her cohosts, however.

Actor William Shatner also joked about Musk bringing his son to the press conference, but his jab appeared to be all in fun.

“Is that one of your young engineers that work for DOGE?” Shatner asked. “I did hear that you hire young but this is something else! #adorable.”

Fox News host Will Cain added, “Personally I think we should trust a guy to find waste and fraud who doesn’t even spend on a babysitter,” he said.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
