2 Illegal Aliens Arrested in Jet Ski Incident That Left 18-Year-Old Dead

Two illegal aliens have been arrested following the death of an 18-year-old woman.  

Ava Moore, an Air Force cadet candidate, was kayaking on Lake Grapevine in North Texas on Sunday when Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, an illegal alien from Venezuela, allegedly struck and killed the 18-year-old with a jet ski.  

The suspect is reported to have then struck a vehicle while fleeing the scene in a vehicle with a male, according to the Dallas ABC station WFAA.  

“Ava Moore’s senseless death was caused by an illegal alien who should have never been in our country in the first place,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said.  

“My heart breaks for Ava’s family and friends, and my prayers are with them as they face this tragedy. My office will continue to work with local, state, and national law enforcement partners to secure justice for Ava,” Paxton pledged.  

The attorney general’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit worked with local, state, and federal authorities, including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to tracked down and arrest Gonzalez and the man who helped her flee the scene.  

In addition to Gonzalez, there was another woman on the jet ski that hit Moore’s kayak. That woman did not flee the scene and spoke with law enforcement after the incident, The Dallas Morning News reports. 

After Moore’s kayak was struck, witnesses jumped in to try to help the young woman.  

Lisa Scrabeck had just finished a jet ski ride on the lake with her son when she witnessed men carrying Moore’s body to shore.  

“Once she came out of the water, I had them lay her down and started helping at that point,” Scrabeck told WFAA. “Started life-saving measures to help the young girl.” 

Moore, according to a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the family of the slain teen, graduated high school in 2024 and had just returned to Texas from Colorado Springs after completing her first year at the Air Force Preparatory School. 

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott shared a news report of Moore’s tragic death on X with the caption, “Welcome to Texas. Here’s your Death Penalty.”
