‘He’s A Friend Of Mine’: Keir Starmer Laughs Uncomfortably While Trump Trashes London Mayor

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer laughed uncomfortably as President Donald Trump took a swing at London Mayor Sadiq Khan, interrupting to protest that Khan was a friend of his.

Trump sat down with Starmer during his weekend trip to Scotland — a trip that also helped bring about a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and secured a major trade deal between the United States and the European Union — and the two took questions from the press.

“Will you visit London during your state visit?” one reporter could be heard asking President Trump.

“I will,” Trump responded before going on to jab at London Mayor Sadiq Khan. “I’m not a fan of your mayor … I think he’s done a terrible job, the Mayor of London. But, ah, a nasty person. But no, I think he’s done a terrible —”

Starmer raised a hand to interrupt, and then interjected with a slight laugh, “He’s a friend of mine, actually —”

The reporters in the room laughed as well, but Trump kept going.

“No, I think he’s done a terrible job,” he continued. “But I would certainly visit London.”

Trump also remarked during the same press availability that he had used a potential trade deal as leverage to bring about the ceasefire at the border between Cambodia and Thailand.

WATCH:

“We solved it through trade. I said, ‘I don’t want to trade with anybody that’s killing each other,'” he explained, thanking Starmer directly for supporting the United States in such negotiations.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
