Megyn Kelly Says Her Show Isn’t Beholden To Anyone Amid Reports Her Podcast Was ‘Acquired’

Megyn Kelly said her show isn’t beholden to anyone, and called reports that her podcast had been acquired “misleading BS” after Fox Corp announced it had purchased Red Seat Ventures, a digital media company.

In a post on Monday on X, the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast reacted to a Wrap headline that read, “Fox Acquires Red Seat Ventures, Home to Megyn Kelly and Other Fox News Alumni.”

“Look at this misleading BS,” Kelly wrote to her millions of followers. “No one has acquired my show’s ‘home.’ The 3d party firm that sells my ADS has been acquired. That’s all. The ⁦@MegynKellyShow⁩ is NOT controlled or owned by anyone other than ME.”

In a second post, Kelly hit back again at a Reuters headline that read, “Fox Corp acquires Red Seat Ventures to tap podcast market.”

“NO, it doesn’t. We are 100% INDEPENDENT. Fox bought the co that sells our ads, period,” the podcast host wrote. She included a quote in her post from the article that claimed the “deal brings [Bill] O’Reilly, [Megyn] Kelly and [Tucker] Carlson back in the Murdoch fold, though Red Seat Ventures will operate independently within Fox’s Tubi Media Group…”

CEO of Red Seat Ventures, Chris Balfe, told The Wrap that by teaming up with Fox, “we will be able to build upon that investment and expand the services we provide to our creators, while continuing to maintain the independence and integrity of their brands, which is truly the best case scenario.”

Red Seat Ventures will operate under Fox’s Tubi Media group, with Tubi CEO Paul Cheesbrough, becoming the company’s chairman.

Cheesbrough said that he sees “tremendous opportunities” for the company to jump into other genres beyond its strength in right-leaning political shows, including sports and entertainment, the outlet noted.

“The creator economy is one of the fastest growing media categories worldwide by measure of reach and influence, and consumers are increasingly looking to get their information, insights and entertainment directly from the voices and brands they trust across these platforms,” Cheesbrough added.

In 2020, Kelly launched the creation of her own production company, “Devil May Care Media,” and her first show hit the air on September 28, 2020 —  after she’d spent more than a decade at Fox News as a host of her own show and a year at NBC as a morning show host.

A year later, she announced “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast was moving to SiriusXM. The host recently celebrated that the show had aired its 1,000th episode.

“Thanks to all of you, we made it here … Thanks to all of you, my team, and our audience for making this happen … When we launched this podcast, we were in New York, and we were in the kids’ playroom, in a little corner with literally a desk Abby got off of either Wayfair or from IKEA,” Kelly said. “It was like $100. I think she assembled it … There were four of us … and we hoped it would work out. But who knew?”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
