New Colorado Clinic Offers Late-Term Abortions for ‘Any Reason’

In Boulder, Colorado, women can abort their child into the third trimester of pregnancy.
RISE Collective, an abortion clinic, opened its doors in October and is offering late term abortions up to 34 weeks’ gestation, just six weeks shy of the average delivery time.
“At RISE Collective, we believe that any reason you have for needing abortion care is yours—and it is the right one,” the facility’s promotional video states.
RISE, standing for Reproductive Health, Inclusive Care, Support and Empowerment, opens after abortionist and founder of Boulder Abortion Clinic Dr. Warren Hern retired earlier this year. The late-term abortion clinic operated for more than 50 years before closing its doors. Now, former Boulder Abortion Clinic staff work at RISE Collective.
“Abortion at any stage of pregnancy is legal and protected in Colorado. You may safely come to Colorado for care from any state or country, and your privacy will be protected,” RISE Collective writes on its website.
Colorado has historically been one of the most pro-abortion friendly states in the nation and in 2024, the people of Colorado voted to enshrine a “right” to abortion into the state’s constitution.
“The RISE Collective’s mission is to provide the highest standard of later abortion care and is grounded in the tenets of compassionate empowerment, sustainable access, and equity,” according to the group.
In addition to performing abortions, RISE Collective also advertises “gender-affirming healthcare” services.
The abortion clinic has raised nearly $20,000, according to its GoFundMe campaign, and is aiming to raise an additional $30,000.
At just about six weeks of pregnancy, a baby’s heartbeat can be detected and by eight weeks, all of the babies’ major organs are developing. Around 20 weeks, a baby can hear and by 22 weeks, a mother can begin to feel her baby move inside her. A baby is considered viable outside the womb around 24 weeks, though babies born as early as 22 weeks have survived. Between weeks 31 and 34, a baby’s bones are still soft, but they are fully developed, according to Mount Sinai.
As of 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 97% of abortions occurred during the first 13 weeks of pregnancy and 7% occurred at 14 weeks gestation or later.
Over one million babies were aborted in 2024, according to Guttmacher. Today, over 60% of abortions are conducted using the abortion pill.
