‘Peace in the Middle East’: Trump Highlights Military Strikes and Diplomacy in First Interview Since Historic Deal

In his first interview since signing his historic peace deal in the Middle East, President Donald Trump spoke Sunday about his efforts to strengthen the United States’ global relations.

Trump told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that if the U.S. hadn’t taken out Iran’s nuclear weapons in June, there’s no way he could have made the recent peace deal between Israel and Hamas happen.

“I think very big was recently with the taking out of the nuclear weapons from Iran when we flew those beautiful B-2 bombers into Iran air space and came out unscathed,” Trump said. “They went into that, and they bombed the hell out of it. And when we destroyed their nuclear capability, they no longer became the bully of the Middle East.”

Trump said the bottom line is that the U.S. is procuring peace in the Middle East, “something that nobody thought was possible.”

“To me, peace in the Middle East, that’s a big thing,” Trump said. “I’ve heard the term all my life, ‘Peace in the Middle East.’ For 3,000 years, it hasn’t happened.”

While Trump said he won’t personally develop Gaza, he likes the idea of building better homes for the people there and calling it “Freedom Place” one day.

“We would get all of the people that live there into decent homes throughout the region,” he said. “Look at Gaza. There’s nothing standing. The whole thing is all rubble. So it’s not too hard to top that.”

Now, he says, it’s time to get a peace deal done between Russia and Ukraine as well.

“I think we’re going to get Russia done. It’s not easy. I thought that would have been the easiest one,” Trump said. “I have a good relationship with President [Vladimir] Putin. I always have. There’s great potential for trade there, and I hope that we’re going to be successful.”

Trump said he has spoken with Putin about whether he is open to ending the war, adding that Putin is going to take land from Ukraine no matter what.

“He has a lot of property,” Trump said. “He’s won certain property.”

It was announced last week that the president will be meeting with Putin in Hungary sometime within the next two weeks. He met Friday at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
