Protesters Wave Palestinian Flags In Fiery Paris Soccer Riots That Left At Least Two Dead

At least two people were killed and hundreds more were injured in Paris following a European soccer championship, as protesters waved Palestinian flags and clashed with police.

Chaos erupted across the city after thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate Paris Saint-Germain winning the Champions League, the most prestigious title in European soccer. Videos and photos from the riots showed people clashing with police, crashing through barriers, destroying vehicles, climbing monuments, and causing mayhem.

Protesters waived Palestinian flags amid the chaos, following an anti-Israel protest during the championship match in Munich. Paris Saint-Germain fans unfurled a massive banner calling for an end to the “genocide” in Gaza, a display that could result in a 10,000 euro fine for the soccer club. Other Paris Saint-Germain fans were seen waving Palestinian flags and wearing Palestinian scarves, according to The Jewish Chronicle.

Videos also show rioters waving Algerian, Tunisian, and Moroccan flags.

Paris Saint-Germain topped Inter Milan 5-0, becoming the first French team to win the Champions League trophy in over three decades.

As the celebration descended into chaos, French authorities cracked down and arrested hundreds of people. Two people died in the tumult: a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the chest in the nearby town of Dax and a 23-year-old man who was hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter, according to the BBC.

The French Interior Ministry said that 559 people were arrested. Officials reported that 192 people were injured.

There is no credible evidence to suggest that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. Former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who served in the Biden administration, concluded last year that the United States does not “have any evidence of genocide” in Gaza. An analysis of Gaza Health Ministry data conducted last year by the Associated Press found that over 60% of reported deaths among Palestinians were either adult males or had no reported gender.

Only 38% of casualties were women or children, according to data from the Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas and is an unreliable source of data on the war in Gaza. The health ministry’s own data, however, has belied the health ministry’s claim that more than 70% of Palestinian casualties in the war have been either women or children.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
