‘Jimmy Kimmel Is Next’: Trump Keeps Pouring Salt Into Open Wound After Colbert Ouster

President Donald Trump jabbed at late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel for a second time in a recent Truth Social post, referencing CBS and the cancellation of “The Late Show” with host Stephen Colbert and suggesting that Kimmel’s eponymous show would be next on the chopping block.

Trump also took a swing at “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, saying that late night comedy was on its way out and happily taking credit for his role in making that happen.

“The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone,” he posted on Tuesday. “These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”

CBS confirmed that Colbert’s show was being canceled several days earlier — with its final episode to air in May of 2026 — at which point Trump’s victory lap began.

“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Colbert, for his part, has not been amused by the jokes at his expense since the news broke — particularly those coming from the White House.

“How dare you, sir?” Colbert scolded. “Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go f*** yourself!”

“They made one mistake,” Colbert said of the network, suggesting that his imminent ouster gave him freedom to say what he could not before. “They left me alive. Now, for the next 10 months, the gloves are off. I can finally speak unvarnished truth to power and say what I really think about Donald Trump.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
