9:11 p.m.—Minutes after another wave of polls just closed, Decision Desk HQ called the U.S. House for Democrats tonight.

9:05 p.m.—The Democrats have flipped a U.S. House seat in Pennsylvania. Decision Desk HQ projects Paige Cognetti will win the 8th Congressional District with just 33% of the vote counted.

She is currently up by more than 30 percentage points on her Republican opponent. Trump won Cognetti’s district by more than eight points in the 2024 presidential election.

8:31 p.m.—Democrats are projected to flip a Senate seat in North Carolina, as Decision Desk HQ projects former Democrat governor Roy Cooper will win his race. Andy Barr is expected to win his Senate race in Kentucky, while Decision Desk projects Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds will win the race for governor in Florida.

8:01 p.m.—Decision Desk HQ projects Florida Democrat Rep. Kathy Castor to win her race against Republican Mike Beltran for Florida’s 14th Congressional District. This is one of the first signs that Democrats may be able to retake the House, as Castor survived an attempt by state Republicans to flip the seat by redrawing the Tampa-area district.

8 p.m.—Polls are now closed in a wave of states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, D.C., the Florida panhandle, Illinois, most counties in Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, most counties in Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and most counties in Texas. Polls close in Arkansas in 30 minutes.

7:30 p.m.—Polls closed in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. Races to watch include the North Carolina senate race between former two-term Democrat governor Roy Cooper and Republican Michael Whatley, the former Republican National Committee chair, for the seat held by retiring Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.

In Ohio, Republican Sen. Jon Husted, appointed to fill JD Vance’s seat after he became vice president, is running against former Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown in a special election. Democrat Amy Acton, the state’s former health director, is running against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy for governor.

7:20 p.m.—Decision Desk HQ has called the Georgia Senate race for Democrat incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff, 20 minutes after the polls closed in the state with 9% of the vote reporting. He defeats Republican Rep. Mike Collins.

7 p.m.—Polls have closed in several East Coast states, including Vermont, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and most of Florida. Polls have also closed in some areas of New Hampshire and in the remaining counties in Indiana and Kentucky.

Republicans are favored statewide in Florida, but the Hispanic vote is worth watching in the state. President Donald Trump made great gains with Hispanic voters in 2024, but recent polling has shown a slip in support. Florida law requires county canvassing boards to report early votes and mail-in ballot numbers within 30 minutes of polls closing, so early results should reveal any shifts in the GOP’s gains.

6 p.m.—Welcome to the Daily Signal’s live blog for election night. Polls have closed in eastern Indiana and Kentucky. Republicans aren’t expecting any upsets in the state, but the first exit polls for the night might offer clues about what’s next.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
