Ben Shapiro Recounts Israel’s ‘Off The Charts’ Excitement For Trump After Historic Hostage Release

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro was in the room for President Donald Trump’s historic speech at the Knesset on Monday, and said the excitement for the U.S. president was “truly off the charts.”

Before Trump got up to speak, Israeli leaders — from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to opposition leader Yair Lapid — praised the president for his work in achieving a ceasefire and getting the hostages home. When Trump was first introduced at the Knesset, he received a standing ovation as members broke out into chants of “Trump! Trump! Trump!”

Shapiro said that Trump is universally beloved in Israel, adding, “There is no one in Israel, with very rare exceptions, typically from the radical Arab parties, that does not love President Trump.”

“Truly, it’s an astonishing thing. I happened to be in the Knesset for President Trump’s speech,” he said during Monday’s episode of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” which he recorded shortly after Trump spoke at the Knesset. “I was there, and let me tell you, the unbridled, overwhelming love that Israelis have for Donald J. Trump. It’s extraordinary, truly extraordinary.”

Israelis celebrated in the streets on Monday as the 20 remaining living hostages returned to the country thanks to the peace deal President Trump brokered between Israel and Hamas.

“This president of the United States, he won’t just go down in Jewish history, obviously, he’ll go down in American history, and in world history for the work that he’s done in the Middle East,” the Daily Wire host continued.

During his speech, Trump said that this day would be remembered throughout history and would be the beginning of “the golden age of Israel and the golden age of the Middle East.”

“This is not only the end of a war — it is the end of an age of terror and death, and the beginning of the age of faith, and hope, and of God,” he added. “This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East.”

Shapiro said that Trump’s speech was “hilariously funny” at times. “He talked about General ‘Razin’ Caine and ISIS, he talked about Steve Witkoff’s negotiations with Russia. He made fun of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all the rest.”

But Shapiro said that Trump’s speech was also “triumphal” and “serious.”

“President Trump said that there are two messages that America understands when it comes to Israel: never forget and never again,” Shapiro said. “And the president also laid out what comes next. And that is not just the return of hostages, but a fully disarmed Hamas and a demilitarized Gaza. How that happens is still up in the air, and phase one has been solved, but if the president does what he’s pledged to do and applies pressure to all of the erstwhile Arab allies and Muslim allies of Hamas, then Hamas will have very few choices left.”
