While Sen. Bernie Moreno thinks the GOP will hold on to the Senate, the Republican from Ohio is urging his party to prepare a mega reconciliation package between the election and January to enact “all the Republican priorities that we can get done.”

Moreno said he believes it is “more likely” that Republicans will hold onto the Senate, currently at 53-47, as two independents caucus with Democrats. But, if they lose the House and the Senate, Moreno wants members to stay put “from Nov. 9 until Dec. 31 with no break at all,” as he told reporters on Thursday.

“Like, we’ll have turkeys here for Thanksgiving,” he said.

The senator has been urging a reconciliation bill “one way or the other.” If Republicans lose control of both chambers, it will be “the Last Supper,” Moreno said, in which lawmakers push “a giant reconciliation bill where we take all the Republican priorities that we can get done.”

Axios’ reporting highlighted a list of priorities, including funding the government for the next fiscal year, emergency defense spending, and raising the debt ceiling. Other plans include the National Defense Authorization Act, FISA Section 702, the farm bill, permitting reform, and confirming nominees.

Politico also highlighted Moreno’s concerns with a debt default, something he said “nobody wants to see” and “would be 1929 on steroids.”

Control of the Senate and the House could both potentially run through Ohio. Moreno beat former Sen. Sherrod Brown in 2024, though the Democrat politician is seeking a comeback in a “toss-up” race against Republican Sen. Jon Husted, who was appointed to fill now-Vice President JD Vance’s term.

Moreno isn’t the only one confident that Republicans will hold onto control of the Senate. Tony Kinnett, on Thursday’s episode of “The Tony Kinnett Cast,” predicted that Republicans will keep control of the House as well.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
