She will be replaced by Deputy Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller. Miller has been a leader on Trump’s successful crackdown on illegal immigration.
Wiles resigned last night, a White House official told the Daily Signal.
“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,” Trump wrote. “Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff.”
The switch up comes days after Republicans’ massive losses in the midterm elections. Democrats won control of both the House and Senate, flipping seven Senate races from red to blue.
Wiles commented on the major staffing change saying she maintains her commitment to Trump.
“Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime,” she said. “I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.”
“More than anything, I’m grateful for the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will,” she added.
Miller is the founder of America First Legal, a conservative nonprofit law firm which aims “to unapologetically and boldly defend the rights of everyday Americans,” according to its website.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
