As America prepares to commemorate 9/11, the Daily Signal asked New York conservatives their opinions of a now-deleted “back-to-school resource guide” from the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and Teaching While Muslim recently exposed by The New York Post.

According to The New York Post, the resource guide referred K-12 students to Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” to explain the largest terrorist attack in American history. Screenshots of the 16-page “Muslim Studies Curriculum” obtained by The New York Post added that the attack was “launched” in response to America’s support for Israel and the American military presence in the Middle East.

New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino told the Daily Signal that the organization’s guide and reference to Bin-Laden’s manifesto prove that “CAIR is a terrorist organization.”

“There’s really no other way to put it. They’re the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it’s frankly insane that we’ve allowed them to operate in the United States at all, much less gain such a level of influence that they’re now involved with school curriculum,” Paladino continued.

In her statement, Paladino argued that the recommendation for students to “study” the writings of Osama Bin Laden qualifies the organization to be banned from the United States, while having their leadership “rounded up, arrested, and expelled from the country.”

“[This] should not surprise us at all, because like Osama Bin Laden, their goal is to destroy the country,” Paladino concluded.

A spokesman for the New York Republican Party told the Daily Signal that the guide, as seen in The Post, serves as “further proof that they [CAIR] are providing aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States.”

The Fordham University College Republicans told the Daily Signal that “the responsibility for the September 11th attacks rests solely with the terrorists who carried them out, and that distinction should never be forgotten.”

The college group added that the “controversy” surrounding the guide “reflects a broader and increasingly troubling debate over how the September 11th attacks,” which is a rhetoric that is “now being used in material directed toward children.”

The guide obtained by The New York Post claims that the 9/11 hijackings increased Islamophobia in the United States. “While Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism existed long before the 9/11 attacks, this time period marked a stark shift in US policy and state-sponsored Islamophobia in the US and abroad. There was immediate backlash against anyone perceived to be Muslim,” the guide read.

The guide also describes the conflict in Gaza without mentioning Hamas, the Islamist terrorist organization responsible for killing, raping, or kidnapping more than 1,000 Israeli citizens on Oct. 7, 2023.

When The New York Post contacted CAIR for comment, “CAIR didn’t deny pulling the hyperlink, and referred The Post to an attached note that vaguely explained changes to an earlier document,” The New York Post claimed.

CAIR-NJ, CAIR, and Teaching While Muslim did not respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment.

The now retracted guidance has also been met with harsh criticism in Washington.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., told the Daily Signal that the reason CAIR failed to mention Hamas when describing the situation in Gaza and instructed young children to read bin Laden’s manifesto is that CAIR is an “unabashed Muslim terror organization.”

“They should be treated like criminals, let alone a nonprofit status,” Fine continued. “They are a Muslim terror front group. They redacted the guide because they got caught.”

In his interview with the Daily Signal, Fine stated that it is pointless for CAIR to release a guide to fight back against Islamophobia in the first place, since the “fear of Islam is rational.”

“How can you fight back against something that doesn’t exist?” Fine concluded.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
