Lindsay DeFranco, an influencer with a history of leftist activism, is running to represent Georgia’s House District 47, a critical Atlanta metro-area seat targeted by Democrats this election cycle. Before launching her political career, DeFranco spent over 12 years as a California influencer where she posted about her recreational drug use, discussed her sex life, and compared President Donald Trump to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.

The candidate’s extensive social media history features posts bragging about serving marijuana at her wedding, sharing a meme referring to children as “f*ck trophies,” and speculating that a California earthquake was triggered by California Governor Gavin Newsom “swingin his d*ck around.”

DeFranco, who grew up in Georgia, lived in California for years, where she and her husband Philip built up a massive following on social media. Her husband has 6.65 million subscribers on YouTube, 3.7 million followers on TikTok, and 940,000 followers on Instagram. She has nearly 120,000 followers on TikTok and 187,000 Instagram followers.

Six years before her run for state office, DeFranco said that she would never be able to handle the stress of an election, according to an archive of her posts from a since-deleted Twitter account.

“My delicate sense of self could NOT handle running in an election. Knowing that people are actually leaving their house to vote against me? No,” DeFranco posted in March 2020. “I can’t even handle when someone doesn’t want to be my friend.”

House District 47 is one of the seats being targeted this cycle by the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, which boosts state-level Democrat candidates. DeFranco’s campaign is being backed by Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), who endorsed her earlier this month. The Republican running for the seat is financial planner Jack Miller.

DeFranco’s social media is littered with vulgar posts and videos. During COVID, she called Trump a “complete and utter f*cknut” for his handling of the pandemic. In another post she said, “IT’S A GREAT F*CKING DAY! BLACK LIVES MATTER Rest in power Mr. Floyd.”

In December 2018, she boasted about offering weed-filled brownies at her wedding.

“I, too, served marijuana at my wedding. We had 125 edibles (brownies) for whoever wanted them,” she posted in December 2018.  “I’ll boast about that any day.”

In a post on Instagram, DeFranco joked about not having to worry about getting gonorrhea at a Las Vegas pool party because she “already found my guy I can grind on.” Another meme she said “cracked” her up referred to children as “f*ck trophies.”

Democrat political figures also did not escape her colorful commentary.

On her Threads account, DeFranco referred to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) as “Cuck Schumer” and commented on Newsom’s genitals. “Heard there was an earthquake in California today. Are yall sure that wasn’t Newsom just swingin his d*ck around?” she posted.

In another post, she described a sex dream where she and her husband “had a threesome with the Olsen twins.”

Those posts line up with podcast appearances where DeFranco has candidly discussed her sex life and her recreational drug use.

Last year, DeFranco compared Trump to Hitler, saying the only difference between the two was that the Nazi dictator was good at art.

“The only difference between Trump and Hitler is that Adolf was good at art,” she posted in July 2025. In another post that same month, DeFranco said she hoped Trump had to “rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life.”

Responding to the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration in Los Angeles during the summer of 2025, DeFranco posted “F*ck ICE” and said that “immigrant communities make the city stronger.”

In 2024, the DeFrancos moved from their affluent neighborhood in Encino, California, to the Atlanta suburbs where they reportedly bought a $4 million home in a gated community. At the time of the move, they reportedly looked to rent their sprawling California mansion for $25,000 per month. The home included amenities like a movie theater, sauna, tennis court, and swimming pool.

Shortly after moving to Georgia, DeFranco became involved in local politics, agitated at Republican town hall events, and testified against proposals seeking to shield kids from inappropriate sexual content.

In March 2025, she went viral for showing up to a town hall for Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) and asking him to stand up to Trump. She asked the Republican what he would do to “rein in the megalomaniac” at the White House.

Later, DeFranco testified against a bill in February 2026 aimed at making sure library and university officials are not exempt from state laws preventing the distribution of pornographic material to kids.

During her testimony, DeFranco compared the Georgia proposal to censorship in the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. When asked by a Georgia lawmaker about concerns with a book called “Looking for Alaska,” which contains graphic descriptions of oral sex, DeFranco downplayed concerns, saying that “students are exposed to that kind of talk and that kind of content every day anyway.”

She later admitted that it was not the “best argument that I could have made.”

DeFranco began her campaign in March 2026 on a platform where she promises to improve the quality of public schools, decrease health care costs, support abortion, and block tax incentives for data center developers.

Since DeFranco launched her campaign, she has reported raising $166,530 for her campaign, with at least $53,259 coming from out-of-state, including from many California donors, and $28,065 from in-state. Another $85,205 is unitemized, meaning the origin of the funds is not listed.

In recent years, Democrats have significantly reduced Republican margins in the Georgia House of Representatives. Back in 2018, Republicans held a 56-seat majority. That massive advantage has now shrunk to just 18 seats and Democrats are seeking to capitalize on a tough political environment for Republicans to make more gains.

The race for House District 47 opened up after Republican Rep. Jan Jones announced her retirement. Jones has served in the House for over 20 years, and she won re-election in 2024 with nearly 62% of the vote.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
