Abdul El-Sayed campaign surrogate Hasan Piker compared pro-Israel voters in a heavily Jewish Michigan suburb to the Ku Klux Klan on Friday, drawing a rebuke from Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).

Slotkin, who is Jewish, called the remarks “anti-semitic, divisive and deeply offensive” and urged others to condemn them.

During a rambling livestream, Piker, who has said America deserved the September 11 terrorist attacks, launched into a hateful rant while watching a video of Democratic organizers canvassing in West Bloomfield.

“This has got to be the wildest door knocking operation of all time,” Piker said. “Trying to get perhaps the most Zionist district in the country. Well, not the most, but like one of the more Zionist wealthy districts in the country to vote for a Muslim anti-Zionist. Brave soldiers, all of them.”

“Thank God they don’t probably own any guns,” he added.

Piker compared the canvassing effort to a campaign operation in a Ku Klux Klan stronghold.

“I don’t think this is insensitive to say — this is the equivalent of going to that, like KKK neighborhood to stump for a Black candidate who’s running expressly… to abolish anti-miscegenation laws,” Piker said. “The difference, of course, is that these are like NPR libs for the most part, so they don’t have the same aesthetics. They’re of a different caliber. They’re of a different class character.”

He then explicitly described the opposition to El-Sayed he was criticizing as “Jewish supremacy.”

“If you are pro-Israel to the degree that you are making a big fuss about never voting for Abdul El-Sayed, a Muslim anti-Zionist. Yes, it is the equivalent, the racial equivalent. That’s my point. Yes, it’s racial supremacy. It’s Jewish supremacy,” he said.

Slotkin rejected the comparison.

“Hasan Piker’s latest online rant targeting Michiganders in West Bloomfield Township, comparing the community to the KKK, should be condemned loudly. It is anti-semitic, divisive, and deeply offensive,” Slotkin said on X.

“I get that this is what he does for attention. But flippantly attacking a proud, diverse community — not to mention a political organizer doing the most American of things in our democratic process — reveals how misguided and uninformed he actually is about Michigan.”

El-Sayed also condemned the remarks. “I grew up in the town over from West Bloomfield. Comparing Jewish Michiganders to the Ku Klux Klan is utterly inappropriate and flat out wrong,” he said in a statement to Jewish Insider.

The backlash adds to Democrat infighting surrounding El-Sayed’s campaign. Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), whom El-Sayed narrowly defeated in the August Democratic primary, urged him Friday to pull a campaign ad featuring Tucker Carlson saying he “wouldn’t vote for [Michigan GOP Senate nominee] Mike Rogers at gunpoint,” The Daily Wire reported.

Stevens argued that Carlson’s inclusion was an insult to the black congregation where the two Democrats are scheduled to appear Sunday alongside Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC). She also called on El-Sayed to denounce another ad boosting his campaign that blamed Israel for America’s economic woes.

“A disclaimer is not a condemnation, and everyone in my community knows the difference,” Stevens said.

Responding to Stevens over the separate advertising dispute, El-Sayed took a direct swipe at his primary rival late Friday, saying she “seems intent on relitigating a primary that ended three months ago.”

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
