A man carrying a Palestinian flag sprinted onto the field at Yankee Stadium at 9:11 p.m. Friday, interrupting the Yankees-Mets game on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, before being tackled by security as furious fans showered him with beer cans and chanted “USA.”

The man entered from the left-field stands in the top of the seventh inning and ran toward center field while the Mets had the bases loaded, two outs, and a 3-2 count on shortstop Francisco Lindor. Stadium security and NYPD officers chased him down and brought him to the ground on the outfield grass before dragging him beyond the center-field wall. As he was removed, fans seated near the Mets bullpen hurled beer cans and other drinks in his direction while the crowd erupted into chants of “USA! USA!” according to the New York Post.

The man wore a jersey reading “No Kings,” a slogan associated with anti-Trump protests. He was later identified by NYPD as 38-year-old Kelly Marcucci, who was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors — interference with a professional sporting event and criminal trespassing.

The Yankees declined to comment on the incident, according to The Athletic.

The disruption came hours after an extensive pregame ceremony honoring the victims of the 2001 attacks, featuring members of the 2001 Yankees team, including Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera. The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Brielle Saracini, whose father, Victor Saracini, piloted United Airlines Flight 175, which was flown into the World Trade Center’s South Tower.

Play resumed shortly after the man was removed. The Yankees went on to win the game 6-4, aided by a three-run homer from Cody Bellinger.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
