- The Trump administration has given Americans room to reclaim ground on gender issues.
- Recent elections demonstrate that the so-called vibe shift is not permanent.
- Maintaining these gains requires continued vigilance from parents, consumers, and communities.
As the saying goes, politics is downstream of culture. But the opposite can also be true. We should keep this in mind when thinking about the path forward in the battle against gender madness.
It wasn’t too long ago that Americans were flooded with pronouns in signature lines, rainbow flags outside churches, and a man who thinks he is a woman in one of the highest-ranking positions at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Many Americans felt powerless to do anything about gender madness. Parents were denied notifications from schools of gender transition plans. In some cases, bills were proposed to remove children from homes where parents refused to affirm their child’s “preferred gender.” Men were allowed in women’s bathrooms and to play on women’s sports teams. Some of this is still happening, but the Trump administration fought back with executive orders and by championing legislation to put an end to the nonsense that swept the nation.
In the last two years, many have argued that America has experienced a “vibe shift,” including on the issue of transgenderism. However, this was far from a permanent change, as shown by the Nov. 3 midterm elections. Some of the biggest advocates for the LGBT movement just secured seats in Congress, including Sen.-elect James Talarico, D-Texas, Sen.-elect Abdul El Sayed, D-Mich., and Sen.-elect Chris Pappas, D-N.H.
Regardless, Americans should not lose hope. The administration has two more years to fortify and secure the wins it has implemented in the area of gender and sexuality, lest we return to a dystopia fueled by confusion and lies.
In the past two years, HHS has ejected people and dismantled policies that once contributed to the mass psychosis of millions of Americans and the sexual disfiguration of youth across the country.
It was just three years ago when Rachel (born Richard) Levine, then the assistant secretary for health at HHS, touted “gender-affirming care” as “standard of care” medicine. The man currently in that position, Adm. Brian Christine, put an end to that nonsense, rightly calling such “care” sex-rejecting procedures. This past summer, his office released a damning report outlining the alleged fraud and nefarious activity perpetrated in the name of mental health care for minors.
Dozens of gender clinics have shut down, in part due to successful legal action against practitioners of so-called gender medicine along with the termination of funding for clinics.
Thanks to brave leadership in Washington, D.C., and in states across the country, far fewer Americans today are forced to virtue signal or bite their tongues during ridiculous conversations about gender. No more pronouns, no more ‘colorful’ celebrations on the White House lawn, no more tuck bathing suits.
Crucially, the current Supreme Court has also showed its support for parental rights.
This does not mean the gender brigade will quit. Some men are still doing their darndest to infiltrate women’s sports and spaces. Some politicians see concern over women’s rights as “manufactured.”
A reshaped Congress could embolden some of these malefactors.
Laura Hanford, a senior policy analyst at The Heritage Foundation who works on transgender policies, warns that the nail isn’t in the coffin of appalling gender initiatives.
“It would be a very grave mistake to assume the gender borg has been defeated,” Hanford says.
“The ideology and the training infrastructure that has embedded it across medical, educational, welfare, and legal systems are alive, thriving, and raring to resurface,” she continued.
Despite the decline in those identifying as gender-nonconforming, particularly among the younger generation, we can’t afford to be complacent. Parents, in particular, must remain vigilant about what is being taught in schools and what their children are exposed to via social media.
If you have children, do not take these declining rates as permission to check out. You are needed now more than ever, particularly at school board meetings and in your community.
American consumers can continue to vote with their dollars. Don’t give money to companies that blatantly support gender divergence, no matter how inconvenient it may be.
Recent success with lawsuits and executive orders has quelled the tide of gender madness. But progressives have been patient. They will never cease their quest to reshape human nature. Thankfully, those of us who believe in biology have reality on our side.
The Trump administration has given parents, communities, and institutions room to reclaim what was lost, but it cannot do all the work for us. Those of us who believe in biological reality, parental authority, and the protection of children must continue to speak plainly, act courageously, and refuse to surrender common sense for the sake of social approval.
The lesson of the past decade is clear: Cultural ground abandoned will eventually be occupied. If we want this course correction to last, Americans must stay loud and affirm truth.
