According to recent nonprofit grant disclosures, the Michigan Health & Hospital Association represents $22.3 million in government grants in the 2025 fiscal year and has annual revenue of $62 million.

However, the organization’s tax filings show that it has donated at least $1.15 million to the Michigan Citizens for Better Health, a politically active nonprofit that has spent $2.49 million in advertising targeting seven Republican state lawmakers in Michigan House districts.

2024 tax filings also show that the politically active nonprofit gave $100,000 to a Michigan Democratic Committee administrative account.

The nonprofits’ opposition to Republicans comes after the state Speaker of the House, Matt Hall, questioned hospital pricing practices and called for greater accountability in the health care industry. The speaker’s questions arose after state House Democrats advocated for the passage of the 340B program, which would offer hospitals and medical patients discounted prices, but fails to specify how hospitals would adequately demonstrate that the financial benefits reach each patient.

The nonprofit has previously defended the 340B program, arguing that it increases health care access and offers essential hospital services.

Michigan Citizens for Better Health and Michigan Health & Hospital Association did not respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
