ICE Arrests Surge To New Record

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made roughly 51,000 arrests in July, setting a new monthly record as the Trump administration intensifies its mass deportation campaign.

The record-breaking month comes as the Trump administration increases pressure on immigration enforcement. As of August 4, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it had reached one million immigration arrests since President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

Additionally, DHS says that it has deported more than one million illegal aliens. Roughly one-third of those removals were conducted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), meaning they were recent border crossers who were almost immediately turned back.

“In President Trump’s first year back in office, more than 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S. because of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, including an estimated 2.2 million self-deportations,” an agency spokesperson said.

July surpassed the previous monthly record of roughly 43,000 arrests set in June, according to Fox News.

The Trump administration has also expanded ICE’s detention capacity to have enough bed space to hold 92,600 detainees at a time by the end of November 2026, Reuters previously reported.

With thousands of new ICE officers and billions of dollars in additional funding approved by Congress, the agency is now going full force to increase arrest numbers.

As of July 11, the agency was holding more than 65,000 illegal immigrants in ICE detention centers across the country, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC).

ICE sources across the country say they’re now working at least six days a week, with the agency mandating that 70% of its personnel be on duty each day.

The agency has also adopted new tactics, including arresting immigrants who overstayed their visas at airports, The New York Times recently reported.

ICE agents have been seen making arrests at the check-in counters and boarding gates and are said to be operating at 15 airports, the outlet reported, citing documents and interviews with immigration attorneys.
