The sources told Alpha News that officers recovered firearms and ammunition from the apartment where Omar’s son, Adnan, allegedly lives with 22-year-old Abdulrahman Tulle Abdi.

The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that officers arrested Abdulrahman Tulle Abdi after recovering a firearm while impounding his vehicle following a traffic stop earlier that day, then tracking him to an apartment on Marquette Avenue.

Officers initially stopped Abdi earlier Tuesday in the 200 block of 11th Street South and cited him for driving after his license was canceled and for failing to provide proof of insurance. He was released at the scene, but officers discovered a firearm while impounding his vehicle.

Police later located Abdi on Marquette Avenue and arrested him “without incident.” He was booked into Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge and later released, according to jail records.

Alpha News reported that police executed the apartment search later Tuesday and recovered additional guns and ammunition. Minneapolis police, however, have not publicly confirmed Alpha News’ reporting on the search.

Court records cited by the Daily Mail show Abdi has been convicted at least 10 times, most of the offenses reportedly misdemeanors. His criminal record includes convictions for speeding, driving with a revoked license, using a cellphone while driving and failing to provide proof of insurance. In 2024, he pleaded guilty to fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle after prosecutors said he was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at 108 mph while racing alongside another vehicle.

The raid adds another unusual chapter to the political and personal controversies surrounding Omar and her family. Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, has become a prominent far-left activist. Hirsi was arrested and suspended from Barnard College in 2024 after participating in an anti-Israel encampment at Columbia University. Omar publicly praised her daughter after the arrest, saying she was “enormously proud” of Hirsi for standing up for her political beliefs.

More recently, Hirsi traveled to communist Cuba on a trip connected to the far-left activist organization CodePink, where she expressed solidarity with the Cuban regime and criticized U.S. sanctions. Omar likewise praised her daughter and the other activists who participated in the trip.

Omar herself has also faced renewed scrutiny over longstanding allegations surrounding her marriage history. Vice President JD Vance said earlier this year that he believed Omar had “definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America” and said the Trump administration was examining possible legal remedies. Omar has repeatedly denied allegations that she married her brother to facilitate his immigration to the United States.

The congresswoman has also been a vocal critic of federal immigration enforcement. Last year, she said her son had been stopped by immigration agents who asked him to prove his citizenship. Omar claimed he was released after producing his U.S. passport, while then acting director of ICE, Todd Lyons, disputed her account, saying the agency had “absolutely zero record” of agents stopping her son.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
