Mexican national Camilo Campos-Hurtado, 66, received a 30-year prison sentence, along with five years of supervised release, this week for reportedly raping unconscious boys between the ages of 9 and 17, according to the Justice Department. Between 2017 and 2021, Campos-Hurtado “incapacitated” his minor victims by drugging them or giving them alcohol before he sexually assaulted them and recorded the abuse.
Authorities first learned of Campos-Hurtado’s predatory behavior after employees at a Franklin, Tennessee, pizza shop found that the illegal immigrant left behind his cell phone at the business, according to local news channel WKRN. The workers found dozens of “unconscionable videos and pictures of children” on the device.
When police began investigating the incident, they found “years of child sexual exploitation,” the Justice Department said. Authorities carried out multiple search warrants, searching Campos-Hurtado’s home and car, and found electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material, along with fraudulent immigration and identification documents.
Forensic analysis of Campos-Hurtado’s devices found that he had been producing child sexual abuse material since at least January 13, 2013. The convictions only accounted for his activities between 2017 and 2021.
“Camilo Campos-Hurtado preyed on children, rendered his victims incapable of resisting, recorded his horrific crimes, and concealed his true identity through fraudulent immigration and identification documents while remaining unlawfully in the United States,” U.S. Attorney Braden H. Boucek said in a statement following the sentencing.
“The Department of Justice has no higher priority than protecting children from sexual exploitation,” Boucek said. “Those who abuse children, produce or collect child sexual abuse material, or exploit our immigration system to facilitate their crimes will be identified, prosecuted, and held fully accountable.”
Campos-Hurtado snuck across the border without getting caught, according to DHS.
On June 17, 2025, he pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receiving child sexual abuse material, one count of using or possessing fraudulent immigration documents, and one count of possessing an identification document or authentication feature that was stolen or produced without lawful authority.
Federal prosecutors had requested a sentence of 50 years.
Following the completion of his sentence, Campos-Hurtado is expected to face deportation to his home country of Mexico.
“This child predator will now be behind bars for 30 years. If he is ever released, ICE will immediately remove him from the country. He will never again harm another child in our country,” Acting Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement shared with The Daily Wire.
