Vice President JD Vance launched a new six-point pledge on Thursday calling on elected officials and government leaders nationwide to join the Trump administration’s effort to root out fraud, waste, and abuse in taxpayer-funded programs, drawing support from Republican governors, members of Congress, state financial officials, and senior administration figures.

“I’m calling on every member of Congress, as well as local and statewide officials, and anyone seeking public office, to rise to the occasion,” Vance said in a video announcing the pledge.
The initiative builds on Vance’s role leading the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, which President Donald Trump tasked him with coordinating earlier this year. The pledge calls on signatories to protect vulnerable Americans from fraud, ensure benefits go to eligible recipients, prevent taxpayer-funded assistance dollars from being used to purchase luxury goods, coordinate across government to stop fraudulent payments before they are made, and hold convicted fraudsters accountable.
The document also calls for illegal aliens convicted of fraud to be arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned, and deported. Twenty-two Republican governors signed the pledge, according to the document released by the Republican Governors Association.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee — policy chairman of the group — praised Vance’s leadership, saying that he was, “Honored to lead RGA members to support the anti-fraud pledge & grateful for @JDVance’s leadership in the fight to protect American taxpayers.” Lee added. “Fraud against taxpayers is unacceptable, & every level of government has a responsibility to prevent it.”
Members of the Republican Study Committee, the largest conservative caucus in the House, were among the first lawmakers to sign the pledge, according to Townhall.
“The American people are done being robbed by fraudsters and the bureaucrats who enable them,” RSC Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) said. “For years, billions of taxpayer dollars were stolen in broad daylight while the last administration shrugged and called it compassion.” Pfluger said combatting fraud has been one of his top priorities in Congress and pledged to continue working to ensure government benefits reach eligible recipients.
Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) also announced that he had signed the pledge, writing that government benefits should go to people legally entitled to them rather than those exploiting the system. Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) likewise said he was proud to sign, arguing that taxpayer dollars should help Americans in need rather than line the pockets of criminal fraudsters.
Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball praised the pledge as an example of the federal leadership needed to combat fraud and protect taxpayers. “This new pledge is the kind of committed leadership we need from the federal government to help us protect taxpayers from fraud and keep the most vulnerable among us safe and secure,” Ball said. “I applaud Vice President Vance for introducing it, and I strongly encourage all elected leaders to sign it and then hold true to its promises. Families in Kentucky and across our country deserve nothing less.”
The State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF) also signed on with the initiative. “The State Financial Officers Foundation applauds Vice President Vance’s powerful new pledge to protect the American people from fraud in government,” the organization said. “Americans are tired of the waste, fraud, and abuse committed by corrupt bureaucrats, scammers, and illegal aliens, and are flat-out sick of the higher costs that come with it.” The signatories include 41 financial officers across 28 states.
The foundation thanked Vance and the Trump administration for their commitment to combating fraud and said it looked forward to remaining on the front lines of the effort.
Several senior administration officials also announced that they had signed the pledge. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said his department was working to protect taxpayer funds, hold fraudsters accountable, and ensure federal health and human services programs serve the Americans who depend on them.
“Every dollar stolen through fraud takes resources away from Americans in need,” Kennedy wrote.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz called the pledge a “commonsense commitment” and said CMS would continue working with the White House task force to safeguard benefits and save taxpayer money.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon also signed the pledge, saying the Department of Education had prevented more than $2 billion in student aid fraud and implemented real-time verification measures to protect taxpayer funds.
“Every dollar lost to fraud is a dollar taken away from a student trying to build a better future,” McMahon said.
