The $2 million Learjet 60 also hit trees and power lines as it went down around 1:00 p.m. ET, some people nearby described the crash as sounding “like a missile,” The New York Post reported. The jet crashed in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, around eight miles southwest of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
Nine people were aboard the Learjet that was destined for the Bahamas after taking off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, according to the Associated Press. It remains unclear how the plane crashed or how many people were killed or injured.
The jet appeared to crash in a busy road, where it left a large crater. A camera from a vehicle driving on the road shows the jet hitting the ground nose-first.
