ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted the news Sunday via X, saying that the game — featuring the New Orleans Saints against the Pittsburgh Steelers — was still on the schedule and the Saints were set for departure for Paris in the next 24 hours.

“Saints are scheduled to leave tonight for Paris, where they play the Steelers next Sunday at Stade de France. Despite intense riots and social unrest there, the NFL says the game is on,” Schefter posted, sharing a statement from the league.

“Preparations continue as scheduled for NFL events and the game at Stade de France next Sunday,” the NFL’s statement said. “We continue to work closely with local authorities and partners on all operational and security matters. We are also providing the two clubs with regular updates. There’s been no disruption or impact at league sites.”

The New Orleans Saints also released a statement ahead of the team’s travel.

“We concur with the NFL’s statement and are planning to play the game,” Greg Bensel, the team’s senior vice president of communications, said. “In addition to working closely with the NFL, we have also maintained daily security updates with our security partners in France. Members of our football operations staff and internal security team have been on the ground in France for the past few days, and there has been no disruption or impact at any of our team sites.”

The protests, which began over school conditions and the rising cost of living, have since escalated into violent riots across the country. Palestinian flags have appeared at a number of the demonstrations. French journalist Paul Amar claimed on CNews that rioters in Marseille had the addresses of Jewish shop owners, and that every Jewish-owned business on one street in the city was torched while Muslim-owned shops nearby were spared. Amar did not cite a source for the claim. The Jerusalem Post reported that while some Jewish-owned businesses in Marseille were damaged, there was no evidence they had been singled out.

As The Daily Wire previously reported:

The worst destruction hit Limoges in central France. In the evening, a masked gang set a police car on fire outside the city’s landmark town hall, then smashed the windows and set fires inside. The building dates to 1883 and has been a protected monument since 1975. The flames raced to the roof, which caved in on the floors below, and the bell tower came crashing down.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
