Rubio Threatens To Dismantle International Criminal Court ‘Piece By Piece’

Just five hours after the Norwegian Nobel Committee shocked the world by handing its 2026 Peace Prize to virulently anti-Israel ideologue Navi Pillay, Secretary of State Marco Rubio fired back with a devastating broadside.

Taking to X on Friday, America’s top diplomat put the illegitimate International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on notice, declaring that the United States was officially sanctioning the rogue tribunal and warning foreign allies to rein in the runaway bureaucrats or watch Washington tear the ICC down piece by piece.

Rubio’s fiery warning followed the outrageous announcement from Oslo crowning Pillay, the 85-year-old former judge who served on the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) from 2003 to 2008 and whose career has been defined by relentless attacks on Israel. Pillay, who famously spearheaded a discredited U.N. report falsely accusing Israel of “genocide” in Gaza while turning a blind eye to Hamas terror, even sneered at President Donald Trump during a conference in Germany shortly after receiving the honor.

Rubio wasn’t having any of it. He stated:

President Trump will never allow the International Criminal Court to prosecute Americans. And that’s why today the United States is sanctioning the International Criminal Court. We will ban transactions with this rogue court, cutting off their resources and crippling their ability to operate against us. Because our message is clear. The United States and the American people are not subject to the jurisdiction of this fake ICC. Both parties agree on this. But only President Trump has the resolve to take the action needed to end this threat once and for all.

Either the ICC will end its threats, or we will end the ICC. And we expect our allies, many of whom are part of the ICC and that rely on American service members for their defense, to rein in this rogue court. If they do not, the United States will continue its campaign to dismantle the ICC piece by piece until Americans are threatened no longer.

The high-stakes clash is the culmination of a decade-long power struggle between globalist lawyers in Europe and American leaders protective of national sovereignty. The bad blood reached a boiling point back in 2017 when ICC prosecutors tried to launch a witch hunt into American soldiers and intelligence officials over alleged detainee abuse in Afghanistan.

That move prompted then-National Security Adviser John Bolton to threaten ICC personnel with arrest, financial ruin, and entry bans in 2018, calling the body “outright dangerous.” By March 2020, when the court officially greenlit the Afghan probe, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed the tribunal as an “unaccountable political institution masquerading as a legal body.”

The warfare reignited after the ICC issued shameless arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and defense officials over Israel’s war against Hamas, drawing fierce pushback from top legal scholars who noted that the court had turned a blind eye to bloodthirsty dictators like Syria’s Bashar al-Assad and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

President Trump responded in February 2025 by signing a sweeping executive order targeting the ICC with aggressive sanctions. Since then, the administration has steadily tightened the vise by launching visa bans, freezing assets, and slapping personal sanctions on ICC President Tomoko Akane and top prosecutor Abdoulaye Seye.

Now that the Nobel committee is crowning an anti-Israel zealot and the ICC is trying to flex its muscles, Washington is drawing a line in the sand: the fake court’s reign over Americans and their allies is officially over.
