Singer Bob Dylan took a page out of Senator John Fetterman’s (D-PA) playbook and decided to put on a hooded sweatshirt for a momentous life occasion.

The recording artist wore mostly black, including a black zip-up sweatshirt with the hood up, a black jacket, a black hat, a white shirt, and a loosely knotted tie for the while being hosted by Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Wednesday during a break between tour dates in Italy. Dylan also wore black leather gloves for the occasion.
Meanwhile, the pontiff wore a traditional cream-colored cassock and mozzetta with a matching zucchetto cap, which made the contrast between the light and dark colored garb even more pronounced.

The Vatican said it was a brief meeting and that Pope Leo gave Dylan a rosary. Dylan gifted the pope with a copy of his autobiography, “Chronicles: Volume One,” NPR reported. Both men hail from the Midwest.
Dylan, real name Robert Zimmerman, was born to a Jewish family but became a born-again Christian in 1979. This led to songs about his conversion including, “Gotta Serve Somebody” and “Saved.”
The singer-songwriter told The Wall Street Journal in 2022 that he was a “religious person.”
“I read the scriptures a lot, meditate and pray, light candles in church. I believe in damnation and salvation, as well as predestination. The Five Books of Moses, Pauline Epistles, Invocation of the Saints, all of it,” Dylan said at the time.
Pope Leo continues to recover from the surgery he underwent last month. The pope was diagnosed with lung cancer in mid-October following an operation to remove a “localized” nodule, in which surgeons removed the lower lobe of the pope’s right lung. Examinations after the procedure confirmed the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, a type of non-small cell lung cancer, which was the suspected result from tests conducted beforehand.
The Vatican did not share whether the pope will need any further treatment, or if the cancer has spread. Within a week, Pope Leo was back to celebrating mass, appearing healthy.
