Johnson is leading the campaigning for House Republicans, traveling to over 20 states and 40 districts before Nov. 3. Along the way, he is fundraising and distributing hundreds of thousands—sometimes millions—of dollars to endorsed candidates.
He told the Daily Signal that once all third-quarter numbers are calculated for his super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund, he predicts they will show more than $450 million raised.
“I think when the Q3 numbers are calculated, I think we’ll be over,” Johnson said. “I think we’re over $450 million raised this cycle between the super PAC and the hard dollars, and that’s a record,” he continued.
Johnson says he is going to continue to raise money and distribute it. This cycle he has distributed over $91 million to members, campaigns, committees, and state parties, including $46 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
“I gave out checks to the members today,” Johnson told the Daily Signal while campaigning for Reps. Scott Perry, Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, and Rob Bresnahan in Pennsylvania.
“Most of these guys I have given probably close to a million dollars [to] at this point—between seven and eight, $900,000 already, because these seats are so important,” Johnson continued, praising the candidates for “using the money very well.”
The Republican House speaker has endorsed 15 incumbents in key battleground districts to hold and grow the majority, and he is backing 59 challengers to take on Democrats.
“We have to keep going because we need those resources to win these races—it’s a very expensive cycle. So, we’re going to do everything within our power to make sure we win it, and then we rest easy after that because we did our duty,” Johnson said.
