Vance Sees ‘Really Weird, Dark Spiritual Energy’ Around AI

Vice President JD Vance said he has noticed what he described as spiritual darkness surrounding the artificial intelligence industry.

Christian podcaster Bryce Crawford asked the vice president and former venture capitalist if he has ever been in a room where he felt an evil presence.

“I think that you know I made a living as an investor in Silicon Valley sort of right before the AI boom really started,” he said. “I sort of got into politics, and you know there are things that some of the companies you see happening where you feel like there is some really, really weird spiritual dark energy.”

Vance referenced a “burial ceremony” for a retired AI model. In 2025, fans held a “funeral” for Claude 3 Sonnet.

“When they get rid of one model and announce a new model, they actually hold a burial ceremony for the old model, and like the employees apparently will cry,” he said.

“That makes me feel very uncomfortable,” he added. “And there’s some some dark spiritual things going on.”

Vance also told Crawford he would not be surprised if the “Antichrist was walking among us.”

“But again, I try not to focus too much on it,” he added.

Vance warned against using AI for marriage advice due to its sycophantic design.

“A buddy told me that his his wife was using like ChatGPT, or maybe it was one of the other ones, but was using that as like a marital counselor,” he said. “And they sort of have this moment of realization that like this is the worst marital counselor ever because it just tells me that I’m right all the time.”

“There’s there’s no real human feedback,” he said. “It sort of short circuits that social part of our brain where we respond to other people’s wants and needs and just completely like I think that’s kind of satanic.”
