Texas tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 44, and his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, were traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas with their two young children, four-year-old Emma and two-year-old Charlie. They were accompanied by two family friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and their nanny, Anita Maria Apellido Cetina.
“Adam and Helen were devoted parents, and Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, were the light of their lives,” a joint statement from the victims’ families said. “Their warmth, generosity and gift for making people feel welcome touched so many lives.”
The statement said Cetina was “truly part of the family” and cared for the young children with “tenderness and devotion.”

“Charmi and Rachel were full of joy and adventure,” the statement continued. “They loved their people fiercely, fully and without hesitation. From the moment they met, they were all in on each other and the life they were building. They are deeply loved, and we will miss them endlessly.”
A statement posted to Sharp’s Instagram account said she “embodied a life well lived.”
“To know Helen was to love her. The number of people grieving Helen and Adam is a testament to how many people were lucky enough to have them in their lives,” it said. “They embraced the world, made beautiful things, built lasting relationships, and loved her people fiercely.”
“Her light was extraordinary, and it will continue to shine through the artwork she made, the legacy she built, and the countless lives she touched,” the statement added.
The two pilots killed in the crash have also been identified: 55-year-old Jeff Gregory and 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras. Gregory, an experienced aviator from Pennsylvania, was the captain, while Filgueiras served as co-pilot for Upper Jets, the charter company operating the aircraft.
Filgueiras was still a senior at West Boca Raton High School when she earned her pilot’s license at 17. At the time, she was featured in local media reports for accomplishing the feat before obtaining her driver’s license.
In the final radio communications before the crash, a woman believed to be Filgueiras screamed and warned air traffic control that the jet was going to hit the ground. The male voice on the audio, believed to be Gregory, appeared to recite part of the Lord’s Prayer.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The pilots reportedly told air traffic controllers they were encountering ice at 35,000 feet before the aircraft began a rapid descent, reaching a reported descent rate of 22,000 feet per minute.
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators said Monday that weather conditions are a major focus of the investigation. Officials also said evidence suggests the aircraft may have broken apart before hitting the ground.
