Virginia Is Ground Zero For The Left’s Playbook

Freedom Is Back In Style
I spent the weekend in Virginia’s rolling hills, hiking the sweeping trails of Shenandoah and sipping wine at vineyards overlooking the Blue Ridge. Too bad this beautiful commonwealth is run by tyrannical fascists bent on subverting democracy as we know it.

On Sunday, DataRepublican on X published some pretty terrifying findings about the upcoming elections and the Democrats’ plans to remake America. Turns out the former theatre kids, aggrieved and perma-lonely members of the Democratic Socialists of America, aren’t just squabbling on Fox News and in their Bluesky echo chambers about abolishing the Senate or imposing term limits. There is an operational plan.
If Democrats take enough power in 2026, the DSA’s little minions intend to serve as “foot soldiers” in coordinated clashes with the Trump administration. The goal, presumably, is to provoke a “red line’ or “doomsday scenario” that forces the President’s hand into invoking the Insurrection Act.
Once he takes that step, phase two begins: delegitimize the federal government itself and hand legitimacy to Democratic governors. The manufactured chaos and wreckage would let them present a false binary in 2028. Keep the dysfunctional American system, or burn it down, a choice calibrated to thrill the “young and brown” demographic.
Having a hard time visualizing it? Look no further than France. With elections on the horizon, leftist leaders are fanning the flames of resistance, telling the young that every problem they face is the fault of a broken system that must be razed and rebuilt. That is how you get historic buildings burned to the ground with a Palestinian flag flapping in the background. The visuals coming out of France are “goals” for the American far Left.
And they have planted all the right seeds. By “they,” I mean the United Democracy Alliance, which DataRepublican identifies as the coordinating body behind the No Kings protests, 50501, and Indivisible. Its intellectual leader, per the same thread, is Erica Chenoweth. Chenoweth is a Harvard Kennedy School professor famous for the “3.5% rule.” She and her research partner studied 323 resistance campaigns and found that nonviolent ones succeeded 53% of the time, versus 26% for violent ones, and that no campaign had failed after drawing 3.5% of the population into its peak event. What a waste of one’s free will.
Poor, poor Virginia is too in love with itself to realize it is ground zero. Attorney General Jay Jones just issued a 10-page election directive instructing local officials to deny ordinary Department of Justice monitors access to polling places, tell federal agents to leave and call local police, document badges, weapons, vehicles, and movements, and challenge federal subpoenas. It also eliminates Election Day voter eligibility challenges. Fabulous. What could possibly go wrong?
This is preemptive resistance, engineered to set up a confrontation and shift authority to state officials like the nutjob Governor Abigail Spanberger, who enjoys springing criminals from prison and making it easier to abort your baby in her free time. Jones, meanwhile, is totally great when he’s not fantasizing about murdering his political opponents’ children and shooting Republicans in the head. His office has been busy: he joined a 21-state coalition suing over President Trump’s election executive order, celebrated a federal judge’s July dismissal of the DOJ’s suit seeking Virginia’s unredacted voter rolls, and, of course, this month, launched a pro-corruption unit ahead of the midterms.
So that is the plan: police the feds, sow chaos, then demand more power to fix the mess they created.
As I detailed last week, these Democratic leaders are suffering from a clear case of chokingonyourownhypocrisy syndrome. For years, the Left and their media lovers have shrieked that any Republican attempt to secure elections, question results, or enforce immigration law as the American people mandated is a direct assault on democracy and a waystation to fascism. Yet Dinesh D’Souza rightly points out that the Left’s preferred tools (centralized state power aimed at political opponents, selective enforcement, and a willingness to treat institutional norms as disposable when they get in the way) track far more closely with historical fascism than anything on our side of the fence.
As D’Souza notes, fascism was never primarily about free markets or limited government. It was about the state directing society, punishing dissent, and subordinating individual and institutional limits to a political project. Preparing state officials to block federal monitors, provoke a constitutional crisis, and then declare the federal government illegitimate fits that description better than a sassy tweet ever could.
And these Virginia Democrats already used their tyrannical trifecta to push through a mid-decade redistricting referendum that produced one of the most egregious and aggressive gerrymanders in the country, aimed at turning a 6-5 map into a 10-1 (D) map, a scheme the Supreme Court of Virginia struck down. And they did it all while yapping about “voting rights.” Now these same charlatans are treating federal election oversight, which everyone should agree is necessary to prevent fraud, as enemy action.
Not to mention, last week we learned that the Biden Department of Justice was collecting data on voters who purchased MAGA memorabilia from 2021 to 2024 and shutting down the bank accounts of pro-life, conservative, and MAGA groups. Hello, fascism.
If Democrats gain ground in 2026, the final pieces of their jarring jigsaw puzzle will slide into place. Escalate, force the Insurrection Act, act shocked, scream and cry, declare the federal government illegitimate, then redirect power to ghoulish Democratic governors and attorneys general. Boom. Then the fringe DSA proposals can come to fruition: end the Senate, rewrite the rules of government, replace the Second Amendment, and abolish the border patrol, the police, and the presidency.
How terrifying.
Virginia may look the same as you’re driving through it or hiking across its landscapes. The mountains are still there and the vineyards still pour (for the most part; the one I visited this weekend is closing its doors). But the people running the state mean to use this election to permanently change our federal systems and guardrails.
We wanted the grapes of France. Not its wrath.
