DiJonai Carrington, the WNBA player who clocked Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham last week and then cried about “white privilege,” is playing the victim once again.

The Chicago Sky guard found herself at the center of yet another unnecessary sideshow on Wednesday night, pointing her finger at a courtside fan during Chicago’s blowout 91-71 loss to the expansion Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center. With 8:47 remaining in the fourth quarter, Carrington marched over to official Sarah Williams to complain about a male spectator sitting front row.

Security immediately rushed in, escorting the patron into the arena tunnel to investigate Carrington’s accusations. But after a quick review, arena security and team officials realized the outrage was over nothing. The fan was fully cooperative, no violation of the WNBA Fan Code of Conduct was found, and he was promptly escorted back to his seat to enjoy the rest of the game. A Valkyries official later confirmed the complaint was entirely “unfounded.”

Neither Carrington nor the Sky have bothered to explain what she was actually complaining about, leaving fans and broadcasters bewildered. But for anyone following the WNBA this season, the drama feels like a broken record.

Just days earlier, Carrington threw a temper tantrum after being slapped with a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected for a brutal, neck-high clothesline on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. Rather than taking accountability for a dangerous hit, Carrington immediately played the race card, posting “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever” on social media before quietly deleting it. Cunningham completely shut down the absurd narrative, noting the flagrant hit had “nothing to do with race” and calling out the desperate play for national attention. Carrington then picked fights with media commentators who dared to call out her race-baiting rhetoric.

Fever head coach Stephanie White even lost her cool this week, delivering an expletive-laden tirade telling online critics to “go to hell” after getting torched for failing to stand up for Cunningham following the hit. Meanwhile, Cunningham, who has consistently stood firm for common sense and defending women’s sports, refused to take the bait.

Carrington’s latest phantom complaint in San Francisco closely mirrored another baseless incident in Las Vegas days prior, where Aces guard Jackie Young cried wolf to security over a fan comment, only for officials to rule no violation occurred.

While Carrington was busy stirring up false drama on the sideline, her actual game was an absolute disaster. The Sky star posted a pathetic stat line: just three points, three rebounds, and three turnovers in 24 minutes of action as the Valkyries cruised to their fifth straight victory.

At this point, Carrington’s off-court whining is far outscoring her performance in the games.
