2 Former Democrat Presidents Give Trump Credit for Israel-Hamas Peace Deal

Former Presidents Joe Biden and Bill Clinton, both Democrats, issued statements giving President Donald Trump credit for the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage deal.
“I’m grateful that a ceasefire has taken hold, that the last 20 hostages have been freed, and that desperately needed aid has begun to flow into Gaza,” Clinton said in a statement Monday. “President Trump and his administration, Qatar, and other regional actors deserve great credit for keeping everyone engaged until the agreement was reached.”
About five hours later, Biden applauded the deal that led to the release of the remaining living hostages.
“The road to this deal was not easy,” Biden said. “My Administration worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war. I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line.”
The ceasefire and hostage release deal is based on Trump’s 20-point peace plan to end the war between Israel and Hamas. Phase one of the deal began last week with a pause in fighting and an initial pullback of Israeli troops in Gaza. On Monday, the remaining 20 living hostages being held in Gaza were released in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Phase two of the deal, which is currently being negotiated according to Trump, includes a permanent end to the war.
Following the initial news of the deal last week, President Barack Obama issued a statement on Thursday saying, “we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight.” Obama did not mention Trump in the post.
Former President George W. Bush, a Republican, has yet to publicly comment on the deal.
In addition to the release of the 20 living hostages, Hamas has turned over the remains of four deceased hostages, and Israel is waiting for over 20 more coffins with remains to be returned to Israel.
Trump was in Israel Monday to address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, before traveling to Egypt to meet with world leaders at the “Summit for Peace.” Trump and leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, the nations who played a leading role in brokering the deal between Israel and Hamas, signed a document at the summit pledging a commitment to the ceasefire.
Trump has hailed the deal as an opportunity for a bright future for the Middle East.
“We’ve all agreed that supporting Gaza must be done to lift up the people themselves, but we don’t want to fund anything having to do with bloodshed, hatred, or terror,” Trump said. We’re going to make sure that the Middle East is going to be a safe and secure place.”
