Blue State On Verge Of Saving Girls Sports And Stopping Child Gender Surgeries

Blue state voters are on the verge of passing ballot initiatives that will protect children from the harms of transgender surgery and uphold sex-based rights, while overwhelmingly electing Democrat politicians.

Colorado ballot initiatives that prevent males from participating in female sports and stop gender surgeries from being performed on minors have gained support from more than 50% of Colorado voters based on unofficial election results. Colorado voters are showing strong support for sex-based rights and opposition to pediatric gender medicine. This support comes while the state has shifted blue by 13.7 points in the Senate race and 16.32 points in the gubernatorial race, compared to the 2024 presidential elections, according to NBC News.

Protect Kids Colorado, a grassroots non-partisan child safety group, led the effort to get three initiatives on the ballot that halt the transgender agenda and increase legal penalties for the human trafficking of a minor. The ballot initiatives gave voters the chance to bypass the Democrat-controlled state legislature and directly weigh in on transgender issues. Proposition 134, “The Protect Girls’ Sports Act,” has received 52.37% of voters in favor vs. 47.63% opposed. Proposition 135, “The Protect Kids From Irreversible Sex-Change Surgery Act,” has received 51.87% of voters in favor vs. 48.13% opposed. The final outcome of the ballot initiatives is still considered too close to call.

Over 3,300 volunteers helped the group collect more than 500,000 signatures to get the three initiatives on the ballot, according to its website. The group has also engaged a large faith coalition that includes more than 500 churches.

“Against all odds, thousands of everyday Coloradans came together to accomplish what political insiders said couldn’t be done,” states the Protect Kids Colorado website.

More than 70% of Americans are “uncomfortable with transgender athletes competing on sports teams that do not match their sex at birth,” and 66% of Americans favor a policy requiring self-identified “transgender” athletes to compete on teams that match their physical sex, according to polling from Pew Research Center. Democrat politicians have largely continued in lockstep with views of transgender activists, despite the issue being deeply unpopular with the majority of Americans.

Erin Lee, a Colorado mother and executive director of Protect Kids Colorado, began her advocacy to protect kids from the harms of gender ideology after her 12-year-old daughter was told she could be transgender at an afterschool LGBTQ+ club.

“Today is the day WE THE PEOPLE prove we can just do things — that we’re more powerful than billionaires & globalists — that common sense can reign supreme,” Lee wrote in an X post on Tuesday. “That we will band together & protect kids, against all odds.

Protect Kids Colorado did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.
