As first reported by Politico, 41-year-old Maine resident Jenny Racicot dated Platner nearly five years ago. Over the course of three detailed interviews spanning two weeks, she detailed the 2021 assault.

“I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,” Racicot told Politico. “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice,'” she continued.

Racicot explained the night in detail. She had told him not to come over, but he let himself into her unlocked house. She said she could smell the alcohol on his breath and believed he was “almost blackout drunk.” She tried to separate herself from him, but he followed her to her bedroom, where he had sex with her.

Platner denied Racicot’s claims to Politico.

“These allegations are troubling, serious, and false. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue,” he said in a statement to the outlet.

After the story broke, Platner posted a video to X, continuing to deny the assault claims. Some outlets have reported he is planning on dropping out of the race. He did say, “We are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward.”

Racicot matched with Platner on a dating app in 2019 and says she had consensual relations with him before the alleged assault.

These accusations follow multiple reports of women describing him as volatile and physically intimidating, as reported last month by The New York Times. A list of allegations against the Maine Democrat include domestic abuse, kidnapping, adultery, and lying about his Nazi tattoo.

Platner’s campaign did not respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment. This story will be updated.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
