EXCLUSIVE: GOP Lawmakers Release Latest Results of Trump’s ‘Whole-of-Government’ Border Crackdown

The Trump administration removed as many of 1,500 illegal aliens from the U.S. every day during the month of August, according to the House Committee on Homeland Security’s latest fact sheet.

The 85% decrease in encounters with illegal aliens at U.S. borders, when compared to August 2024, is a testament to the Trump administration’s “whole-of-government” approach to address the border crisis, according to Andrew Garbarino, the committee chairman.

“For four years, the Biden-Harris administration’s open-borders policies, coupled with sanctuary city jurisdictions in New York and across the country, turned the United States into a safe haven for cartels, gangs, and even our adversaries,” Garbarino, R-N.Y., said. “Now, our communities are safer thanks to the return of common sense in Washington and the whole-of-government efforts by the Trump administration to empower law enforcement at every level.”

At the southern border, encounters with illegal immigrants are down nearly 91% since last August, and daily apprehensions between ports of entry averaged 204 last month, a 96% decline from the average during the Biden administration, according to the fact sheet.

For four months straight, Customs and Border Protection has not paroled a single inadmissible alien into the interior of the U.S., “compared to the 10,186 inadmissible aliens that were released under [President] Joe Biden last August,” according to the committee.

“America has turned the tide from the Biden-Harris border crisis by allowing the men and women of CBP to accomplish their mission,” Rep. Michael Guest, chairman of the subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, said.

Since returning to the White House on Jan. 20, President Donald Trump has signed a number of executive orders aimed at securing the U.S. border with Mexico and discouraging illegal immigration. The next priority for Congress, according to Guest, R-Miss., is “codifying President Trump’s border security success into law to ensure we never face another historic border crisis again.”

The increased security and enforcement measure at the southern border has led to an increase in attempted maritime drug smuggling. Just since August, the U.S. Coast Guard has seized more than 75,000 pounds of cocaine, and apprehended about 60 suspected cartel members, according to the committee.

The CBP Air & Marine Operations along with the Coast Guard “interdict cartel members and seize millions of dollars’ worth of deadly drugs before they ever reach our communities,” Rep. Carlos Gimenez, chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, said.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, America’s maritime forces are going directly after narco-terrorists and drug smugglers, protecting our homeland, and keeping the American people safe,” Gimenez, R-Fla., added.

The Trump administration has targeted multiple boats in the Caribbean said to be carrying narcotics intended to reach the U.S.

“Through seamless intelligence sharing, coordinated investigations, and joint operations, our agencies work hand-in-hand to identify emerging threats, disrupt terrorist networks before they reach our shores, and secure our borders against those who would exploit them,” Rep. August Pfluger, chairman of the subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, said.

Since Trump took office, the FBI has made over 25,000 immigration related arrests, including 350 members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua and 195 MS-13 gang members.

The coordination of U.S. intelligence agencies “ensures that we are using a wide range of federal capabilities to intercept threats while protecting our communities,” Pfluger, R-Texas, said. The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI “must remain vigilant in watching over America’s borders and the homeland.”

Further border security measures are expected in the coming months following Trump signing the Big Beautiful Bill in July. The bill provides DHS with $165 billion in funding, including $46.5 billion to continue construction of the border wall and $14.4 billion to remove illegal aliens from the U.S.

House Committee on Homeland Security will hold its annual Worldwide Threats hearing next month and will “continuing our work to codify these successful border security policies for future generations of Americans,” Garbarino said.

FBI Director Kash Patel and National Counterterrorism Center Director Joseph Kent will testify at the House Homeland Security Committee’s annual Worldwide Threats hearing on Oct. 8.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
