Americans will have to wait until after the election to hear how the White House plans to pay for the $5,000 checks President Donald Trump promised to every American adult if Republicans win the House and Senate this November.

Russell Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, told the Daily Signal they are waiting until the “other side of the election” to put the plan in place and to “be able to come forward with Congress with a proposal and get that conversation started.”

“I think there’s a genius involved in what the president’s articulating and, you know, we’ll be ready when the moment comes,” he continued.

“We’re bringing in trillions of dollars in tariff revenues. We made astronomical savings with regard to the deficit in the One Big Beautiful Bill. I think these things are able to help us with deficit reduction. And, you know, we’ll have that conversation,” Vought said.

Trump pointed to tariff revenues as a way to fund the Trump Dividend; however, it is unclear whether there are enough funds from the tariffs to fully cover the roughly $1.2 trillion proposal.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has also joined the Trump Dividend conversation, saying he assumes the president will need Congress’ approval to issue the $5,000 checks.

“He launched it at our convention and got a lot of people excited. Of course, devil’s in the details. We have to figure all that out. But I think what he was articulating there is that he’s saying that if you want more money in your pocket, you have to keep Republicans in charge,” he said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Vought continued, telling the Daily Signal to “stay tuned” for more plans to continue to cut the deficit and that they are “looking for all of our opportunities to do that.”

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
