WASHINGTON — The man accused of beheading one of the six servicemen commemorated in an iconic replica of the Iowa Jima Memorial statue is a criminal illegal alien, the White House confirmed to The Daily Wire on Thursday.

Authorities with the Prince William County Police Department arrested Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano on Wednesday for felony destruction of property and trespassing with intent to damage property, a White House official shared.
Using a sledgehammer, Maldonado Soriano allegedly decapitated one of the servicemen depicted in the limestone replica of the Iowa Jima Memorial at Marine Corps Base Quantico, a monument dedicated to the heroic Marines who have died defending the United States of America since its founding. Austrian-American artist Felix de Weldon sculpted the original at Marine Corps Base Quantico in 1954.
Soriano illegally entered the country in 1999, and his criminal history includes an arrest by Stafford County law enforcement in May 2022 for trespassing.
“This criminal illegal alien’s dream is over,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told The Daily Wire. “Maldonado Soriano disrespected our brave service members and defaced a beautiful monument that honored their sacrifice.”
Maldonado Soriano applied for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which was approved on October 22, 2014, a White House official shared. He also applied for employment authorization as an alien with DACA on July 22, 2014, which was approved in October 2014. He spent more than a decade re-applying for DACA and employment authorization.
Rogers pointed to his alleged crime as an example of what the United States would return to if Democrats once again took power and put a stop to the president’s immigration efforts.
“President Trump has secured our border and is deporting illegal criminals who hate our country and our values. The socialist Democrats want to go back to open borders and flood our communities with dangerous criminal illegal aliens.”
