A leaked internal document has blown the lid off former New York City comptroller and Democratic congressional nominee Brad Lander’s recent PR stunt in Judea and Samaria, revealing the leftist politician’s trip was organized by a radical group aiming to demonize Israel.

The Washington Free Beacon obtained the memo, which is marked “do not share or circulate.” According to the Free Beacon, it comes from “Protect the Harvest,” the outfit behind the trip, and it reads like a far-left fever dream.

Across three pages, it uses the term “ethnic cleansing” a dozen times. It also throws in the “genocidal” blood libel for good measure, describing Israel’s “genocidal assault on Gaza.” And it is candid about why the group brings foreigners to the olive groves: to grow what it calls an “emerging consensus” that “international intervention is necessary.” What that intervention would look like, the memo never says, beyond vague talk of initiatives to “pressure the Israeli government.”

Lander played his part. He ousted Rep. Dan Goldman in this year’s Democratic primary. According to Israel’s Foreign Ministry, he deliberately entered a restricted security area where harvesting required advance coordination. When Israeli forces detained the group, he took to social media to announce he’d been “detained” by the Israel Defense Forces. He was released with a warning a few hours later.

Israeli officials and a former U.S. ambassador called Lander out. The Foreign Ministry slammed the episode as “reckless political theater.” It said Lander’s team had been explicitly told beforehand that coordination with the relevant authorities was required, and that he chose to ignore those instructions. “This was not about harvesting olives. It was about harvesting headlines,” the ministry said.

The IDF added that approximately 100 coordinated harvests had already been conducted across Judea and Samaria without any unusual incidents. That is the proper channel, and Lander skipped it. Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman was blunter. He mocked activists who travel halfway around the world to make “performative videos.” He told Lander he was doing nothing to help anyone but himself and his political profile among “woke New Yorkers.”

The memo is the latest evidence of Lander’s willingness to throw Israel under the bus to please anti-Israel activists and the radical wing of his base. His foreign policy misadventures follow a pattern at home. Earlier this year, he spoke at a mosque whose imam has reportedly prayed for the “killing of infidels by [the] sword.” There, the self-described “proud Jewish New Yorker” accused Israel of genocide in Gaza, a charge that Israel vehemently rejects. He also warned that the situation in Lebanon was “potentially” on its way to becoming a genocide too.

In the same appearance, Lander vowed he would not vote for “any more U.S. military aid to Israel.” He said he hoped to build the kind of partnership he’d developed with Mayor Zohran Mamdani with Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, two of Capitol Hill’s most outspoken critics of Israel. He wrapped up by reciting a passage from the Quran in Arabic.

His campaign’s social media has also promoted sanctions on companies that provide banking services and building materials to Jerusalem’s suburbs. As the Free Beacon points out, that category sweeps in a lot of mainstream, major Israeli firms.

Lander has made his playbook clear: bash Israel, play the victim, and court the radical Left.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
