De La Cruz, who opened her speech by talking about the dignity of work and patriotism instilled in her by her grandfather, asserted that under Republican control, the United States, specifically its border states, has been able to become “safer than ever.”

“[Under former President Joe Biden], groceries went up 20%, rent ate the whole paycheck, and an open border brought fentanyl into our schools and drug cartels into our neighborhoods,” De La Cruz said.

The congresswoman then contrasted the border crisis under Biden with the current state of the border under a Republican-controlled Congress and White House.

“When you sent Republicans to Congress, we made promises,” she continued. “We promised to secure the border. Today, that border is safer than at any point in history.”

During her speech, the congresswoman also highlighted the achievements enacted by congressional Republicans through the Working Families Tax Cuts, such as eliminating taxes on tips, Social Security benefits, and overtime pay.

“Up yo $4,000 a year back in the pockets for working Americans, this is real money for real people,” De La Cruz said. “The waitress in Weslaco keeps her tips, the roofer in Alamo keeps his overtime, and the retiree in Beeville, well, she keeps her entire Social Security check.”

De La Cruz, who is running for reelection in Texas’ 15th Congressional District against Democratic candidate Bobby Pulido, then took shots at her opponent for aiding his former band member, Frankie Caballero, after he was convicted of a sex offense with a minor.

Pulido, a former musician whom De La Cruz described as a “corrupt liberal celebrity,” was scrutinized by the congresswoman for having ” spent years bringing a convicted child sex predator around our families.”

“When Bobby Pulido isn’t endangering our families, he and the radicals in his party are trying to make life harder for them,” the congresswoman continued.

De La Cruz continued, stating that the “radicals” she previously described work to impose “higher taxes, higher prices, and open borders” on the American people.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
