The 82-year-old star filled the book with shocking stories, with one of the most eyebrow-raising incidents occurring during the 1992 Academy Awards, as Page Six reported.

Douglas, who won an Oscar for his role in Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” in 1988, was a presenter that year.  He recalled being greeted at the door by an LAPD sergeant who informed him of the “credible threat” against him, which necessitated the award show crowd to be sprinkled with undercover agents, the outlet noted.

“We have information that someone will try to stab you with an HIV-infected needle tonight,” he was reportedly told by police.

“This was during the height of the AIDS crisis, and getting stabbed with an infected needle would essentially be a death sentence,” Douglas wrote in his memoir. “As I walked out, I took a quick glance into the crowd to make sure that no one was rushing to the stage. All I could see were blinding lights,” he wrote of presenting onstage with Jodie Foster.

The actor’s longtime friend told Page Six that the story is true. “[Douglas] was advised by the agent not to go out there [on stage]. They knew the person was in [the venue], but they didn’t know where. [They] could have been in the staff, the crew or the crowd … Michael was scared sh*tless. It was a really ballsy move for him to go out there.”

No arrest was ever made in connection with the alleged plot.

That wasn’t the only death threat against Douglas detailed in the book. The actor also reportedly landed on a “kill list” attributed to the extremist group Death Angels while he was filming the crime drama “The Streets of San Francisco.”  The group is credited with the racially motivated “Zebra Murders” that claimed at least 15 lives, but as many as 75, in the early 1970s. The attacks were committed by four black men targeting white victims specifically.

Douglas described what it was like to wear a bulletproof vest and have the protection of undercover officers while on set due to the threats.

In addition to the obvious life or death situations, Douglas also described doing drugs, having affairs with high profile celebrities, and other Hollywood shenanigans in his 500 page memoir, which is being released on Tuesday, October 6.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
