The mother of a 3-year-old black boy whom leftists claimed was targeted for being too good at soccer has launched a GoFundMe account, asking for $30,000 — which the fundraiser has already surpassed.

The fundraiser was launched Tuesday, and it has already raised more than $47,000, exceeding Griffin’s $30,000 fundraising goal by more than $17,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
“At just 3 years old, Nevada could not understand why he was being taken away from a game he loved. What should have been a happy childhood moment became heartbreaking and distressing for him and deeply painful for our family to witness,” Martasia Griffin, the boy’s mother, wrote on the GoFundMe page. “This fundraiser is about more than one painful experience. It is about protecting Nevada’s passion for soccer and making sure this moment does not define his journey.”
Griffin went viral earlier this week after publicly claiming that police were called on their family because their son was dominating youth soccer games and other parents were jealous of his talent. Griffin’s account went mainstream, due in part to Left-wing children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel, who deemed the incident “racist.” However, as highlighted by The Daily Wire, a police statement, body cam evidence, and a 911 call undercut Griffin’s account. It appears police were called because the mother caused a disturbance after she disagreed with the coaching and officiating of her son.

“The Winter Park Police Department was contacted by a soccer league official who requested response to a disturbance between league officials and the parents of a player. The league requested the family leave and offered to refund the league cost to family,” Winter Park Police Department said in a statement. “The family was cooperative with the officers and were provided with an event number for the incident at their request. … No one was arrested, trespassed, or forced to leave the park.”
Despite the evidence contradicting Griffin’s version of events, the GoFundMe says her son, Nevada, “was removed from the game because of concerns about his skill level, and the situation escalated to the point that law enforcement was called.”
“This fundraiser is about more than one painful experience,” Griffin wrote. “It is about protecting Nevada’s passion for soccer and making sure this moment does not define his journey.”
The donations, she said, will “help Nevada continue pursuing soccer in a more supportive setting by covering registration fees, training, equipment, uniforms, travel expenses, and other opportunities for him to keep developing his talent. We need this support as soon as possible so Nevada can move forward and keep doing what he loves.”
Additionally, the child has been invited to appear on Ms. Rachel’s popular children’s show after the entertainer publicly called the incident “racist, sick, traumatizing and disgusting.”
“The police were called on a 3-year-old Black [sic] boy because he’s too good at soccer. He was kicked out of the league,” she wrote in her post. “We’d love to have him on our show to share his amazing skills.”
Former U.S. men’s national team player Eddie Johnson also said his soccer academy will train Nevada. According to media reports, the boy is expected to join Johnson’s training program in Orlando in January.
“His situation has brought light to a lot of the things that still exist in youth soccer in this country,” Johnson said online. “Entitlement, Jealousy, Envy, Nepotism, Gatekeeping and profiling especially against people of color.”
