‘The View’ Doesn’t See A Problem With Democrats Cheating in Alaska

“Cheating” is the only way to describe the Democratic plot in Alaska to put another Dan Sullivan on the Senate ballot to confuse voters. But the liberal ladies of ABC’s “The View” initially claimed they couldn’t see the problem with the tactic. Once the truth came out in a bombshell New York Times report, they called the tactic dirty but tried to convince their audience that Democratic candidate Mary Peltola didn’t know what her campaign was doing.

During Monday’s episode, before The Times report dropped, the panel was outraged that Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Department of Justice opened an investigation. “I don’t know what the problem is,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg scoffed.
In fact, they asserted the investigation, not the second Dan Sullivan, was the real effort to steal the election.
“So, just to put it in terms, you-know-who [President Donald Trump] has been trying and failing to influence the midterms,” Goldberg said. “What is the problem here? Alaskans are unable to read? They don’t see an ‘X’ next to somebody’s name?”
“This is extraordinary. The extraordinary nature of the Department of Justice filing a lawsuit to not certify an election before a single vote is counted. That is extraordinary, and I think we all need to understand how extraordinary it is,” Sunny Hostin rambled like Kamala Harris.
Hostin even had the nerve to suggest the DOJ wasn’t doing their job to “protect the integrity” of elections.
Faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin had them put the ballot on screen to show that the real Dan Sullivan had “incumbent” next to his name, so supposedly there wasn’t a problem. Ana Navarro called for incumbent Sullivan to lose the election, and Sara Haines joined in, saying he needed to concede when he lost.
But then came The New York Times’s October surprise.
Despite the report spelling out how Democratic candidate Peltola’s staff was ordered to find people named “Dan Sullivan” and recruit one as a candidate, Goldberg suggested on Thursday it was a conspiracy Trump cooked up. “Peltola’s campaign repeatedly denied any involvement in his candidacy, but you-know-who has already made up his mind on the matter,” she declared.
She would later say about the facts, “If it’s true, we don’t know,” but called the plot “sloppy and dumb.”
Calling it “just politics,” Joy Behar tried to minimize the liability for Democrats and asserted it was a both-sides issue. She failed to give an example of when and where Republicans had supposedly done this too, seemingly conflating it with 2020:
It’s a mistake on the part of the Democrats. But I mean, it’s done on both sides. It was done back in the day by the Republicans. They did it. And, also, I don’t know, it just seems like a lousy, low-level trick, but let’s remember that Trump was the one who asked to find 11,780 votes. Remember that? So, he’s up to dirty tricks all the time. This is politics.
Farah Griffin’s new reaction was the most pernicious. After trying to defend Peltola by claiming she may not have known the operatives working for her did this, Farah Griffin admitted she knew something was fishy on Monday, yet refused to open her mouth: “I think it stinks to high heaven. I suspected it was the case when we talked about the other day, but I didn’t want to say it until it was confirmed through reporting.”
As the purported conservative on the panel, her job was to say something when Democrats were reeking. Instead, she advised Peltola to “denounce it and create distance. If she can honestly say that she had nothing to do with it, she should say we don’t need these kind of tactics.”
Haines argued that Peltola didn’t need to do this before catching herself and trying to distance the Democrat from the actions of her campaign:
Confusing a voter isn’t a good political strategy, because you’re then kind of betraying the very person you’re asking to vote for you and represent you. So, I think it’s definitely dirty. And she didn’t need this, I’m not saying they did this, operatives might have, whatever is being reported, we don’t know where it links to. But she was ahead by a large margin in the primary.
She later got a laugh out of the cast by saying the people who did this thought Republicans were so dumb that they would vote for the wrong Sullivan.
Instead of talking about this case and what the Democrats did, Hostin blamed Citizens United and Republicans:
I think politics is just — has gotten so dirty, especially after Citizens United, with the Supreme Court allowing so much money into politics. I mean, Elon Musk has spent more money, I think, in history for these midterms, like a quarter of a billion dollars for the Republican Party. It just seems to me that the system needs an overhaul. It literally needs an overhaul.
Take all this in with the context that “The View” has repeatedly suggested that the only way Republicans win elections is by “cheating” and “tricks.” As always, their sweeping declarations fall apart when they’re forced to face the actions of their fellow Democrats, fully revealing them as an apparatus of the Party and not a “bona fide news program.”
