A Somali rap song that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), whose real name is “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,” according to the Department of Justice, set as background music in a video of a lakeside stroll threatens to punish, humiliate, and subjugate the singer’s enemies, according to an English translation.

The 27-second clip, which Omar posted to X days after the feds raided her Washington, D.C., home, shows her walking along a Minnesota lake with her husband, Tim Mynett. The caption read, “Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes.”

The soundtrack is “Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya” by Somali rapper Ilkacase Qays, with the first verse warning that anyone the narrator confronts will be suffering and screaming by nightfall, according to an English translation commissioned by the Washington Free Beacon:

The Almighty has given me strength.
If I confront you in the afternoon,
By evening, I will teach you a lesson,
And keep you awake throughout the night.

Yes, you will suffer and cry in seething,
You will scream like a demon.
After all, you are not Arabs,
So swallow your anger and chew on it.

A later verse brags about throwing people into a well and imposing taxes on enemies, and the song closes with a vow to punish, dominate, and shame them:

Let me show you who I am, hey, hey!
No enemy dares to threaten me.
Wherever I set foot, he runs away.
Yes, he runs away and stays away.

The video comes as Omar faces a federal criminal investigation into her immigration history and her finances. The song appeared to be a jab at President Donald Trump, who said last week the probes could lead to Omar’s deportation or arrest.

Homeland Security Investigations agents searched Omar’s Washington home on October 12, seizing her phone, passport, computers, and notebooks, The Daily Wire previously reported.

Investigators are examining whether Omar or her late father misstated her age on naturalization paperwork, along with long-running allegations that her 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was a marriage to her brother. Omar has denied any wrongdoing.

A Justice Department filing tied to the search lists Omar as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” without explanation. Omar responded in a post on X, writing, “My name has always been Ilhan Omar.”

The Justice Department is reviewing Omar’s financial disclosures, which include an accounting error that cut Omar’s reported 2024 net worth from as much as $30 million to no more than $65,000, according to U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro.

Omar has blasted the investigation as a politically motivated smear campaign.

“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” she said in a statement earlier this month. “I will not be silenced.”

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
